LinkedIn thinks I’m rich

On the way home after seeing Colin Meloy, @mrichmond.bsky.social and I were talking about our favorite songs about drowning. His is “Where the Wild Roses Grow”, mine is “Ode to Billie Joe”.

I've been thinking a bit about democratizing user research lately. I realized that there is a parallel to shadow IT, so I wrote something about it. www.nadynerichmond.com/blog/2025/02...

I have been donating to RAINN annually since the 90s. I might not be a massive donor, but I am a longtime donor. Time to call and ask them wtf they’re thinking.

I got my first detention in kindergarten. The teacher was a hardass who’d spank kids for speaking out of turn. One day, the kid next to me threw up all over the place. I leaned over to the kid on my other side and whispered “do you think Mr Davis will spank her for not getting permission first?”

Just what I want to read when I’m about to get a taxi to the airport to return home.

There is someone in this coffee shop wearing a little black dress, stilettos, a string of pearls the size of quarters, and elbow-length gloves.

Sitting in Cubbon Park, it’s full of families picnicking, couples chatting, groups playing games. It’s like this the world over: urban green spaces and people out in them. I don’t know what the local chipmunk cousins are called, though.

Definitely feeling like a retriever this week. At least no one has asked for a selfie with me today.

Waking through the park, I got swooped by a bird. No damage, just startled. A local boy gave me a stick and showed me how to carry it to fend them off.

For @burkswright.bsky.social, a moment of cow from the streets of Bangalore

I am in a karaoke bar in Bangalore. I have just sung “Take Me Home, Country Roads” with everyone here.

I saw this too! Absolutely fantastic, rates in my top 5 theatre experiences. Most people look at me in confusion when I say so. This is a classic for a reason.

I have now been in the hotel for long enough that the staff recognizes me. There has been a constant stream of staff at my breakfast table: Do I need any eggs? Coffee? What about event planning?

Walking around the Lalbagh Botanical Garden, multiple people came up and asked if they could take a picture with me.

Sauvi’s favorite toy is a rolled-up piece of fabric. The original was the cape off of a stuffed unicorn. The original got lost. We bought a square of matching fabric and cut out a couple of dozen little capes. They all get rolled up like this after a couple of days. She plays fetch with it for hours

My org is having a meeting in Bangalore. Some folks there have written some guides for their colleagues who are coming from outside the area. The hotel guide tells us not to smoke in our room or damage any property, and then says, "No Musicals: The event will not include any musical arrangements."

Bad actors are having fun with moderation lists and custom feeds. I’m offensive to one’s sense of decency! 😂

In the queue to pay at Costco, the person ahead of me was carrying a massive area rug slung over one shoulder, and a rotisserie chicken in the other hand. I wanted to ask which was the impulse buy.
