An underreported and really nasty fact: DOJ Friday was full of political allies from around the country. Career staff –the life blood of the place –were forbidden from attending, unless expressly invited by the regime. It was a meeting of the Vichy govt in Paris with all Nazis and a few quislings.

This is Chuck. Chuck is selling a book. Chuck also has a full-time job. I would consider buying Chuck’s book if he were doing that job, but he’s not. Don’t be like Chuck. And don’t buy Chuck’s book.

Hard to explain how many profitable technological “solutions” are just tools that displace labor from the vendor onto the consumer.

How many people who work at the Heritage Foundation don't have postsecondary education? Do you think they are telling *their* kids to skip college in order to have more babies? It's always someone else's sacrifice.

abundantly clear that this administration takes “discrimination” to mean “any regard for minority communities” and treats “merit” as a synonym for “white (and preferably male)”

until they can identify what DOGE is and who runs it, the messaging should be that it’s a criminal enterprise

David Icke, notorious English peddler of anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about lizard people, is calling out Elon Musk on Twitter and it is fascinating to watch:

Many are asking what should we do now? “We use our power, organize, mobilize, educate…the American story will not be written by who occupies the White House or by the wealthiest among us…it will be written by you, by ‘we the people.’” -fmr VP Kamala Harris receiving the NAACP Chairman’s Award.

This seems like a really bad idea, esp. for someone with no experience in ATF’s guns/arson/bombs based prosecutions or their regulatory mission (on top of the slightly demanding job of being FBI director: Kash Patel to also take over as acting ATF director www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

This was always about cutting the federal government so the tax cuts for the very wealthy don’t expire. This was never about “efficacy.”

Looking for a history of Puerto Rico and Amazon keeps sending me ads for a U.S. citizenship study guide. I am so discouraged.

Anyway, here's Sugar the cat contemplating the impermanence of life and the very nature of existence, as one does

This is the way back (2025): *an aroused/involved American people *effective lawsuits *wins in state/local elections *political class finds its footing *falling Republican polling numbers All are starting to happen.

DOGE recommended firing workers at: -FDA, which oversees Neuralink -FAA, which oversees SpaceX -USAID, which probed Starlink -CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X. "Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

It's not lost on me that the two Democratic electeds talking consistently to regular people right now are AOC and Jasmine Crockett. Dassit.

If the White House press corps doesn't walk out in solidarity for the AP they're not gonna do it for anyone.

Can we start to discuss how ignorant Musk & his minions are, and how much contextual knowledge matters?

Stand with @apnews.com!

This is ballgame on the First Amendment unless there is immediate action by news media, Congress, the courts & the public to condemn & prohibt this www.cnn.com/2025/02/14/m...

Soldiers at Valley Forge suffered frostbite, disease and malnutrition, but they stood fast for democracy. Republicans in the Senate suffered deep unease about being primaried, so they betrayed democracy.

Tom Tillis is responsible for Hegseth selling out Ukraine. He could have voted to stop him. He didn't. NC needs a new senator

Susan Collins will support RFK Jr. as US health secretary The Maine Republican, considered a key swing vote for many Cabinet picks, did not respond to questions about why she thinks Kennedy is qualified for the role despite his history of criticizing vaccines. www.pressherald.com?p=7423929&uu...

This, exactly. "Oh, it's just a little thing, we can do that. ... Well, this is a bit worse, but I guess we can go along with that too. .... Huh, this seems a lot but what choice do we have now?"

Here's the acting head of FEMA just unliterally deciding that Article I is fake earlier today. The Constitution is not in effect.

Great point.

I wrote about how Doge is involved in cutting cancer research www.vanityfair.com/news/story/d...

Eric Adams pretty much agreed to sidestep NY sanctuary protections, & make his city's immigrant residents more vulnerable to iCE, in pursuit of naked personal gain & a shield from corruption charges.

Courts *ordered* the Trump admin to stop its spending freeze Yet ProPublica found place after place where $ is still frozen -hot meals for elderly and disabled -groceries for those in need -maternal & child health services -a clinic that serves the poor www.propublica.org/article/trum...

the shift in a lot of ways has been away from rich Americans fairly passively allowing a rigged system to accrue to their advantage while supporting nominal democratic norms to “forget norms, we’re here to take everything”

We know what’s going on here.

I remember when right-wing media said that I wasn’t qualified to be a member of Congress because of my credit card debt. My debt was nowhere near $1.2 million. Do they think the same of RFK Jr? Or does that standard only apply to young people? We know the answer.

It is notable that Big Law is completely absent from the legal fights to protect democracy. In 2017, they bragged about their pro bono work for the resistance. Now, they are silent -presumably cowering in fear of Trump and Musk. Support the non-profit law orgs and small firms doing this hard work.

Musk's latest power grab: your Medicare benefits. Elon - you're looking in the wrong place. Private insurers in Medicare Advantage overcharged taxpayers by at least $83 billion in 2024 alone.

the OTHER thing about the white house’s anti-diversity push is that like old fashioned segregation it is explicitly an effort to undermine unions! like c’mon! don’t be stupid!

From today’s NYTimes: “The E.P.A. has begun clearing toxic debris from homes destroyed by the Los Angeles wildfires. The full cleanup will take many months. The Trump administration has warned more than 1,100 E.P.A. employees who work on climate change and other programs that it may fire them.”

if you’re 25 years old with control of the entire treasury system and you don’t delete every student debt file, you are the biggest loser the world has ever seen

A private citizen, with the backing of the President, illegally shut down a major government agency over the weekend and it is not on the front page of this morning's New York Times @peterbakernyt.bsky.social
