As years pass, I wonder if I'll ever be able to look in the mirror and like what I'm looking at. I wonder if I'll one day finally break this endless circle of self-hatred, take in the things my friends tell me and actually believe them. I'm tired and sad. I'm not going to be around for a bit. "User-hostile design" isn't just ads and hard-to-find cancel buttons. App devs have learned they don't profit from adding features users say they want—they make money by analyzing usage patterns, then adding features to maximize "engagement" (YOUR time/energy spent in the app). That's user-hostile.
