On Juneteenth, we celebrate the triumph of freedom and honor the resilience of Black Americans in the face of centuries of injustice. Today and every day we must continue to push for a more just society.

Happy Juneteenth!

Out here, minimum wage is $14; monthly pass is $80. For a 40hr/week worker, that's about 3.6% of monthly income going to transit costs. Or, to put it another way, getting rid of it would be equivalent to a $0.50/hr raise.

Call your Representatives and Senators. Tell them to assert their Art. 1, Section 8 constitutional power. No war with Iran. 202-225-3121

Juneteenth: Celebrate Freedom

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me … 💔a Minnesota tribute to phenomenal leaders who served we the people with selfless courage and amazing grace. Leadership during violent times ended with senseless, tragic murders. We are better than this America 💔be the change!

NOTE TO MY FELLOW AMERICANS: Regime change starts at home.

Diplomacy and leadership 👇👇👇👇👇

The editorial board of a publication in Sen. Mike Lee's home state of Utah called on him to apologize for his posts about the Minnesota shootings, writing that they “were unacceptable for anyone, let alone from a member of the Senate.”

ICE denied U.S. Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) and Jonathan Jackson (D-IL) entry into it’s facility in Chicago.

Sotomayor points out the similarities between the Skrmetti ruling allowing discrimination against transgender people's medical care to Virginia's argument for its interracial marriage ban in Loving.

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.

Dearest humanities friends, I’m sending up the humanities bat signal. Heard a NEH colleague that orgs aren’t submitting requests for close out costs on terminated awards—which they are entitled to!! Here’s what to do: 1/

The scene inside 26 Federal Plaza—where Comptroller @bradlander.bsky.social was just arrested for defending an immigrant neighbor—is terrifying. Lines of masked officers waiting to wrongfully arrest people (without a signed judicial warrant) for simply attending their immigration hearings.

As rents continue to rise across the country, they're falling by ~12% to 16% in Jersey City. Why? The city spent 2019 to 2024 on an absolute building tear. Building more housing works. jerseydigs.com/jersey-city-...

Powerful words from J. Sotomayor dissenting today in #Skrmetti: "By retreating from meaningful judicial review exactly where it matters most, the Court abandons transgender children and their families to political whims. In sadness, I dissent." www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

Sotomayor: "The majority subjects a law that plainly discriminates on the basis of sex to mere rational-basis review. By retreating from meaningful judicial review exactly where it matters most, the Court abandons transgender children and their families to political whims. In sadness, I dissent."

WASHINGTON, June 17 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's sweeping tax-cut and spending bill would lead to a larger-than-expected $2.8 trillion increase in the federal deficit over the decade, despite a boost to U.S. economic output, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projected on Tuesday.

Your now-regular reminder that no tax cut has ever paid for itself. Ever

ICE just arrested Brad Lander, the NYC Comptroller and one of the leading candidates for Mayor, without grounds. He was conducting routine immigration court work, escorting individuals from hearings. He asked ICE for their warrant - well within his legal rights. This is political intimidation.

NYC Comptroller, Brad Lander, repeatedly asks for these masked people (purported federal agents) to produce a judicial warrant.

At the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, there’s a tomb for Alma House, an African American girl who was just 16 years old — and nine months pregnant — when she was lynched by a white mob. Trump wants us to forget about girls like Alma. Here's how ⤵️

Nope: The President can't withhold money that Congress already approved. Thanks, @murray.senate.gov (quoted), Sen. Susan Collins, Rep. Tom Cole, @delauro.house.gov & colleagues for funding America's libraries. We're counting on you to #FundLibraries in FY2026! www.politico.com/live-updates...

Praise where praise is due: Reuters has a link to the complaint in the second paragraph of the story!

Former ABC senior correspondent Terry Moran was fired after calling Trump aide Stephen Miller a “world-class hater.” Moran says ABC made a business decision, fearing the truth was “bad for business.” He stands by his words—and won’t apologize for calling out hate. www.rawstory.com/stephen-mill...

🦋 Terry Moran eviscerates Stephen Miller in post-ABC interview You see him all the time spitting venom & lies into our debate, degrading our public discourse, debasing it & using the power of the White House & what he's been given to grind us down in all that bile. Speaking the way MSM should be 🦋

Happy to see our research used to support this work (and #NoKings discussed by @willbunch.bsky.social in the Inquirer)

This is why I was so upset when they expanded so-called conscience protections, b/c if one group doesn't have the right to get healthcare b/c a Dr has certain feelings, *you* won't have a right to healthcare in the near future. #Momvocate

The current wave of federal immigration raids began in January with a “rogue” operation in California’s Central Valley. My new study finds these raids increased school absences by 22%—a leading indicator of the resulting family stress & lost learning opportunities👇 www.nytimes.com/2025/06/16/u...

From across the border, our hearts ache. Melissa & Mark Hortman were murdered. John & Yvette Hoffman shot. And still - you showed up. To grieve. To fight. To say: NO KINGS. As Canadians we see your courage. We stand with you. #NoKings #DemocracyForever #Solidarity

BREAKING: A federal judge reversed National Institutes of Health's terminations of hundreds of critical research grants that were canceled because of their alleged connection to disfavored topics, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and gender identity. This is a major win for public health.

He said it. Yes.

There is no bottom to the depth of the immorality, inhumanity, and targeted violent hate … role models for how not to live, or be. What you hope and pray your children never become …
