People who believe this forgot that the war in Ukraine started before Zelenesky (in 2014, when it had pro-Russian government). Prior Russia successfully invaded its ex-colonial territories Chechenya & Georgia. There's nothing exceptional about Ukraine. Trump speaks for the geographically illiterate.

🚨 New plesiosaur paper 🚨 After 12 years of work, our paper about Seeleyosaurus was published today. Seeleyosaurus was the first complete plesiosaur found in Germany. The holotype at the NHM Berlin is almost complete, articulated and even has fossilised skin. 1/6 #FossilFriday #Science #Germany

It's #FossilFriday & Oregon's birthday! Did you know our state fossil is also a living tree? The genus was thought to be extinct until Chinese botanists found a living Metasequoia in 1943. The green leaf is from a descendant of that rediscovered tree, planted on the University of Oregon campus.

Even if their fossil collections were somehow rehoused at other institutions, the potential closure of the Paleontological Research Institute would be an incalculable loss to specimen-based research. It would also eliminate an immensely important educational facility for students and the public. 🧪
