Billionaires aren't in charge of what we write. Anyway, check out yesterday's opinion piece from @natashalennard.bsky.social:

The German elections show we don’t need to moderate fascism, we need to oppose it… @theintercept.com theintercept.com/2025/02/25/g...

The White House X account was of course trolling, and provoking outraged responses like this is part of their goal. But there’s no contradiction in an act being trollish and unambiguously serious in its fascist intent and effect... latest @theintercept.com theintercept.com/2025/02/19/d...

"For us it is a call to shut down their fascist deportation machine," @natashalennard.bsky.social writes of the disgusting video.

Happy pub day to this most brilliant comrade, my great love and motherer of demons, @reproutopia.bsky.social, who has written another extremely important book

ICYMI: we covered a lot at @theintercept.com over the weekend…

Me, working on my little articles and book projects in February 2025:

It’s tough to compete with this stuff

An urgent read from @natashalennard.bsky.social on the situation at Columbia—mass organized efforts at targeting students, faculty, even two deans with expulsion, firing, blacklisting, deportation. All of which started last year, but aligns perfectly with Trump. theintercept.com/2025/02/15/c...

@natashalennard.bsky.social's very important story in @theintercept, exposing @Columbia faculty & alums who target pro-Palestinian faculty & students: "we have to get rid of them." Vigilantism like this is horrendously familiar, with deadly historical antecedents. theintercept.com/2025/02/15/c...

I can’t decide whether I think it’s funny or sad that so many people sincerely believe that Ivy League students needed to secure funding from overseas in order to buy the cheapest tents available online apnews.com/article/insi...

SCOOP: A group including Columbia alumni, professors & parents is trying to get students deported & arrested and urged people to tip off FBI. They’ve also disparaged Jewish protesters & tried to compile lists of JVP members. W/ @natashalennard.bsky.social theintercept.com/2025/02/15/c...

👀 👇Recording of Fred Block in conversation with Nancy Fraser, @natashalennard.bsky.social, @sunraysunray.bsky.social and Will Milberg about his new book 'The Habitation Society: Creating Sustainable Prosperity' - on the @nssrnews.bsky.social YouTube channel. www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3LX...

a year ago 16-year-old Oklahoman Nex Benedict died after a bathroom beating. in the time since, we've lost more trans kids, while losing federal trans rights. how a community is holding itself together after years of living under Trump's current anti-trans policies at the state level @teenvogue.com

After reading @vickyacab.bsky.social's latest about how Big Tech helped build a fascist society, you'll never fall for the ole "these guys would do diversity and justice if it weren't for Donald Trump, and that's why they have a display case full of skull-measuring calipers in their office" again

LGBTQIA minors make up 40% of the endangered minor runaway population. They are 120% more likely to be unhoused. They are also uniquely at risk for exploitation and trafficking. This is breathtakingly evil.

NYU-Langone is cancelling appointments for gender-affirming care for young trans people, parents say. The cancellations come after Trump's order directing institutions that receive federal funding to end gender-affirming care for patients under 19. hellgatenyc.com/nyu-langone-...

new @teenvogue.com: @brittneymac15.bsky.social digs into the details of Trump's exec order on trans youth healthcare. I checked with an @aclu.org senior attorney on what trans youth and their families should plan for. in short: no changes RN; stay on top of your healthcare; don't comply in advance.

"where are all the protests?" read our series showing the legacy of both the Trump and Biden admins—from BLM in the 2010s, to Standing Rock, to George Floyd, to the Palestine encampments—as protest suppression and criminalization. politicians want to call blocking traffic and masking "terrorism."

So I have the total honour of speaking with my brilliant, brilliant friend Sophie Lewis @reproutopia.bsky.social about her new & crucial book, Enemy Feminisms, at my job! The New School, 02/19. Open to public, pls register, first come, first serve (limited space!) event.newschool.edu/enemyfeminisms

Tech elites, fueled by an ideology that embraces capitalist monarchy, helped Trump win the election. Now he's ramming through mass infrastructure projects to fuel AI - which will only accelerate jobs lost to automation. The future is here, you just weren’t invited. itsgoingdown.org/good-night-t...

After Trump won, @versobooks.bsky.social got a number of authors together to reflect. I had the huge honour of talking w the brilliant @alfatau.bsky.social Alberto Toscano about fascism (activities of, discourses on) & the liberal centre's contribution to it www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru24...

Trump's anti-trans EO is a bizarre document, premised on a pseudoscientific definition of binary sex classification that wld be impossible to implement in everyday life...a political speech act to sow fear & license to discrimination...latest @theintercept.com theintercept.com/2025/01/22/t...

The Trump administration is taking a brute-force approach to push trans people out of public life, writes @natashalennard.bsky.social.

“If you continue reaffirming the claims that there is some sort of crisis in need of an answer, be it crime, be it migration... That is a race to the bottom the far right will win.” @natashalennard.bsky.social

Here’s @ifnotnowmovement.org’s statement on Musk’s Nazi salute.

Then NPR host asks, “do you get the feeling some of these Proud Boys feel real repentance?” Give me a break. This is the saccharine sentimentality of centrist journalism—“centrist” in the sense that it cannot even imagine the center won’t hold.

"The 2017 Women’s March was a lie, even if its organizers and attendees were acting in earnest. It suggested a united liberal-to-left feminist, antifascist front that simply did not exist. Mainstream Democrats have made that all too clear" @natashalennard.bsky.social theintercept.com/2025/01/20/t...

No vast inauguration protests were planned. This could be seen to signal of fatalism & acquiesce — for liberal centrists, it may well be. For the left, tho, back-footed as we might be, skipping inauguration protests this year evinces a sober reckoning & better focus theintercept.com/2025/01/20/t...

Trumpism never left. No one in the halls of power in Washington is listening. And, above all, the terrain on which we fight Trumpist rule is the rough ground of everyday life. It’s where we’re already standing. @theintercept.com theintercept.com/2025/01/20/t...

While the severe cold, which has forced Trump’s ceremony inside, could be blamed, the weather didnt stymie mass protest plans – no plans anything close to the scale of 2017 were ever made. That’s not nec a bad thing when it comes to the left. Latest @theintercept.com theintercept.com/2025/01/20/t...

@natashalennard.bsky.social: "Valenti rejects the scarcity logic around abortion that defined the Democratic Party norm for three decades. President Bill Clinton’s famous line, that abortion should be 'safe, legal, and rare' became a mantra of sorts for his party." signsjournal.org/jessica-vale...

I think the greatest argument against the efficacy of social media "fact checking" as a counterweight to authoritarianism or whatever is that Meta has been doing it for nearly a decade, and well, the results speak for themselves
