I keep coming back to Making Love With The Land by Joshua Whitehead. Something in the book really grabbed hold of me today. The romanticization of Indigenous trauma such as Residental Schools and MMIWG2S is published time and time again, but Indigenous triumphs and joy are shoved to the back. 1/2

I've been radicalised at many points in my life. I remember one time, on a school trip, walking through a Holocaust memorial museum, I was the only person crying at the atrocities. The boys made homophobic jokes. I felt so disconnected, we forget to teach people empathy.
