You must take your cues from leadership, who in the most important address to those they lead declared "We will forge a society that is ... merit-based." Note that the word "Champion" appears on Triple H's wikipedia page 173 times. What more do you want?

One catch the original in Chicago. Just saying.

Why design specific? The entire digital team may not have known, with member of Finance and Ops misfunneling proceeds.

Also, looks like an experiment forgot to support dark mode? What’s with the different blue?

What is this challenge you speak of?

What do you think the DS team should do that shouldn’t be hard but they can’t or won’t do it?
comment in response to post
I 💯 don’t agree. Why speak in absolutes? Would “often” or “usually” be better? Jargon, depending on context, enables so much: brevity, clarity, precision, efficiency and even confidentiality. Using your absolute, someone under risk of assault / under distress should never use a safe word. 😝

I remember that fascination. A sixth grade friend humble bragging during his tour of his basement shelter add on. In case of war, he had canned goods and vent of some sort in a gray brick box with cots. Cool.

I think I agree, in that you can derive a starting point of a partial component definition in data from Figma using the API. But, so far, the SoT lives somewhere else.

Oh, no doubt about that. That’s a good risk to note and mitigate.

Figma certainly isn't completely capable as an expression of design intent (accessibility 👀, for example). However, i's got a lot dependably modeled in a way to extract, transform, and convey it. I look forward to seeing where it can go this year on projects.

@lukasoppermann.com @pjonori.com I see enough designers using "States" to communicate ideas to value them. Plus, maybe redefine "usage" to also mean Figma assets as a primary data source feeding an data model and architecture generating, validating and iterating code libraries. Just saying. 😉

Oh, interesting. I didn't realize the DOGE effort was directly superceding the digital service. "Each DOGE Team will typically include one DOGE Team Lead, one engineer, one human resources specialist, and one attorney." Sounds fun. Arguing "Design needs a seat at the table!" feels naively quaint.

💯. His work had a very profound impact on me, from Blue Velvet through Twin Peaks (TV) to Mulholland Drive. Sad day. Time to cue up some Angele Badalamenti.

This may be more interesting as a comparison of this vs last campaign.

What’s to worry about is stagnant team building and Edu leaving. If the money is drying up, the arc could curve downward from a peak.

💯 When I teach design tokens, I explain “Button may be the worst place to start, with many of it’s visual choices inverting most of what’s used somewhere else or acting like one offs.”
comment in response to post
But are ANY of them saying anything new? Are there new tokens ideas? I am glad the industry is getting down to business, but the posts seem like noise…

I am exceedingly disappointed. But I ain’t calling for the team to down tools until August as others have. Go for a walk. Do some yard work. Find some cool. Be back Wednesday for a response.

Some pretty brittle takes in the comments, what with the club winning or drawing 13 previous to this week. Yes, it’s hard and injuries grueling, but there are still competitions to play for. COYG

Also, i wonder what the trends are with… * designers and understanding layout * components by AI * Figma DS features rate of change * giving a s*** if your component gets used or if you measure that

Ha, love it! Yet, I have quibbles. Federated ONLY models are out. Similarly (mindset change: favor ANDs over ORs): DS as product and service and community and infrastructure. It can be all of those things.

Here's another: Yahoo Pattern Library, 2005 (and whatever year they brought that massive isometric product map poster to the IA Summit). For all you that think design systems started in the 2010s or later, check out the decision trees and flows here. boxesandarrows.com/implementing...
