This is true. A pal of mine who is a policeman went to a Scottish island recently to investigate a missing person and when the locals found out he was a Christian they stuck him in a giant human-shaped willow branch construction and burned him alive.

Talking to my folks (Tr*mp Voters) right now is like visiting the store in the film, CIVIL WAR.

I wrote about Musk and this bureaucratic coup as plainly as I could. There's reporting in here & the particulars are overwhelming but what's happening is so clear: He's not trying to run the federal govt like a software company He's trying to turn it into a political weapon. (gift link)

🧵Someone from the /r/fednews subreddit put together a list of all the Elon folks working for DOGE. They are: Amanda Scales Brian Bjelde Riccardo Biasini Anthony Armstrong Steve Davis Baris Akis Thomas Shedd Edward Coristine Russell Vought Michael Peters Josh Gruenbaum Russell “Rusty” McGranahan

Ezra Klein's most recent podcast correctly identifies that there's been a regime change in the US government, & he even uses a game metaphor at one point, but because he doesn't know about the multiple games framework, he flounders by falling into his default technocratic mode of analysis. Today is the first day of 1,460 days of saying, “Oh, shit. What now?”

I want to thank Target for reminding me how horrible it is to leave my house during the holiday season.

I noticed a lot of my friends have come over to Blue sky. I've had an account for a while but haven't really used it. Thought put I'd post here just to see who I could find.

Welp, I'm screwed.

“All Day Election Coverage” sounds like a threat this year.

Election got you down? Anxious about the future? Why not enjoy some music? Might I suggest you give F# A# Infinity by Godspeed You! Black Emperor a spin?

Utahns, please watch! This is a fantastic breakdown of the language used to obfuscate Amendment D on the ballot in November : www.reddit.com/r/SaltLakeCi...

Utah Constitution: Voter Ballot Initiatives can institute new laws UT Voters: We want independently drawn districts - passed ballot initiative UT Legislators: Nah UT SC: Ballot initiative is legal. You have to use independent districts UT Legislators: Call special session to change constitution

Keeping track of US politics right now is like watching a really crappy build up to a series finale where all you can hope for is some sort of resolution that makes you forget you started watching the show in the first place.

This killed me.

The news today has me wanting to scream "KKKKHHHHAAAANNNN!!"

Sadly no theaters in my area are screening Dolores Claiborne at 11:00 AM on April 8. Seems like a missed opportunity.

Where are all of the follow-up articles about how no one should major in the STEM fields? www.cnbc.com/2024/03/15/l...

Valentine fantasy

I’ll say it again. All SKYNET has to do is keep the lights on.

In a state where around half of the population is a single religion, this resolution (and the impending legislation) is going to make it really difficult to determine whether recognition of others is seen as endorsement -- which seems to be the point of these asinine moves by UT Leg. and USHE.

I can’t tell if the other site is only *now* unbearable, or if it has always been and I tolerated it.

This past summer I had to install 2 new apps on my phone in order to do two basic things: park in a city and wash clothes at a hotel. I am waiting for the day when I need to do some menial task and won't be able to because I won't be able to invest in some new ecosystem.
