Getting Started

A little teaser for something I’m currently working on, following an amazing recent trip to Ecuador. #Mindo - Life in the Clouds | Birdwatching & Wildlife in Ecuador youtube.com/watch?v=rTsa...

Cackling Goose here at @rspb.bsky.social The Oa earlier in the week, and our first spring migrant back in the form of a Lesser Black-backed Gull. Lapwing, Curlew, and Oystercatcher all made a return to site towards the end of the week.

Escape to nature ❄️

Twite knocked off the top spot in 2025 by the Goldfinch! 📍@rspb.bsky.social The Oa #Biggardenbirdwatch

A hungry Common Buzzard taking full advantage of my tractor work this afternoon, and enjoying all the worms available as I spread cattle manure on #Corncrake early cover habitat. Amazing to watch it at close quarters. @rspb.bsky.social @rspbscotland.bsky.social

Love this!

Well, I wasn’t expecting to see a Great Egret at Kinnabus today. A new site species for me, and who doesn’t love abit of Ardeidae action. @rspb.bsky.social The Oa

#Peregrine pair feeding on a Barnacle Goose, which the female took down, just below the house here at @rspb.bsky.social The Oa. A brief moment of absence allowed me a rapid opportunity to move a camera trap from a nearby wader scrape and onto the goose kill. @rspbscotland.bsky.social

It’s CHEGD season here at RSPB The Oa. The abundance and diversity of CHEGD fungi are a really fantastic indicator of the current health and condition of our unimproved coastal grasslands.
