Getting Started

A late lunch today, about 2:30—It was very good! I cooked it in a cast iron pan and the skin was black and crispy but I never find blackened fish very photogenic. What kind of fish was it? Red Mullet Salmonete in Portugal One didn't look enough, but I didn't manage to finish all the second one.

Christmas Day, in Nazaré. Silence outside when I awoke and I thought I'd go into village to have a coffee and a pastel de nata. Tourist restaurants open over the New Year. I turned on the radio and only old American Christmas songs, nothing else. So decided cafés would be closed and didn't go out.

Dal Curry with Rice I used to make this kind of meal a lot a long time ago ,but got out of the habit. The Dal was wonderful, and just look at how the rice came out of my newly acquired mini-rice cooker. The Italians say if a risotto is correctly made, then you can taste every grain.

The Chicken Risotto that I made for lunch today was, really, really good! And I hadn't made a risotto for a long, long time. It wasn't dry, and I didn't need a spoon so it wasn't wet!

The lookout seagull who sits on the roof of the highest building saw me opening the door to the kitchen balcony and arrived within seconds, and on seeing chipolatas, he let out a screech which probably said feast, and the others were there in seconds.

archive.ph/BIz7f#select... How Big Toilet Paper dupes us all I think it likely that every home in Portugal and maybe Italy have a bidet. More hygienic and no need to worry about running out of toilet paper or needing to stock up on it.
