My goal is always to do right for the people of North Carolina.

My team and I have been hard at work this week to help build a safer, stronger North Carolina. Let me share my week in review 🧵

Big week for new jobs coming to rural North Carolina: 📍Syntec Precision Technology Corporation will create 34 new jobs in Vance County.    📍Pennsylvania Transformer Technology, LLC will add 217 new jobs in Hoke County.    📍Chatsworth Products, Inc will add 45 new jobs in Craven County.

We need the federal government’s partnership to help western NC recover, and I’m extremely concerned about cuts that would cripple our long-term housing recovery. I raised this concern yesterday with the administration.

Taking care of each other — thats what North Carolinians do. Thank you to the work of the State Emergency Response Team for keeping North Carolina safe.

WEATHER UPDATE: Winter weather began in the mountains early this morning and will continue to move east throughout the day. Depending on where you are in the state, there will likely be disruptions to your day.

Public comments are now open for the North Carolina Action Plan to help rebuild WNC. And we want to hear from you. We are going to build back western North Carolina stronger than ever — together. Visit commerce.nc.gov/recovery-comments to submit your thoughts.

North Carolina, I declared a state of emergency this morning in preparation of imminent winter weather. Your safety is my top priority.

I am declaring a State of Emergency across North Carolina. We fully expect that the majority of our state will be impacted by winter weather in the coming days.

Small businesses out west are hurting. More than 2,100 small businesses have applied for grant funding to help recover from Hurricane Helene. THIS FRIDAY is the deadline to apply for grants to help rebuild. Apply now: appalachiancommunitycapitalcdfi.org/wnscb-grant/

As we continue to monitor storms across much of NC today, my heart is with Kentucky as it navigates this unprecedented flooding. Neighbors showing up for each other is the North Carolina way — Kentucky was here for us during Helene, and now it’s our turn to return the favor. 1/2

Western NC is open for business! Thanks to @ARCgov and @NCDOT for investing in our mountain economy. www.wncbusiness.com/2025/02/12/5...

Congratulations to @unccharlotte and @EastCarolina for achieving R1 status as top-tier research universities. We are all proud that North Carolina is home to some of the best colleges and universities in nation. Go Pirates and Go 49ers!

Good news for the people of Canton and Haywood County – we have reached a multimillion dollar settlement with Pactiv for shutting down the paper mill that will help the town move forward. 1/2

Together, we can make North Carolina the #1 state in the country for apprenticeships. Thanks to our community colleges, including @waketechcc, for leading the way.

School bus drivers get North Carolina’s children to school safely so they can learn. We must do more to support the people who serve in this critical role. This week, I am proud to recognize school bus drivers across North Carolina.

Today I was joined by US DOT Secretary Duffy and NC DOT Secretary Hopkins to see the work being done on I-40. These folks are working fast to get the job done.

I thank USDOT @SecDuffy for joining us in western NC to view I-40’s damage, along with Sens. Tillis and Budd and Rep. Moore. The partnership between our state and federal governments is the only way that we’ll succeed in getting back on track. I look forward to continuing our work together.

Breaking news: we will reopen 2 lanes of I-40 by March 1. It’ll be for reduced speed two-way traffic and remain a construction zone so take caution. We are making progress thanks to NCDOT and its tireless work and help from our federal partners.

Our crews at @NCDOT are finding creative solutions to replace damaged infrastructure and get folks connected again as quickly as we can. wlos.com/news/local/r...

More jobs are coming to Robeson County! Cold-Link logistics, a cold storage management firm, is adding 123 jobs in the county and will invest more than $85.5 million in their Lumberton warehouse. I am pleased to welcome them to NC. governor.nc.gov/news/press-r...

Our state’s strength is our people. We need to support them so they become the best workforce in the nation. This morning I had the opportunity to visit the NC Works Career Center in Wilmington. This facility helps North Carolinians develop their skills and find careers.

I am grateful to the Duke Endowment for committing $5 million to our grant program to help small businesses in western North Carolina get on the road to recovery. www.wbtv.com/2025/02/05/d...

As a state, we must do more to help the people of western North Carolina rebuild as fast as possible. Learn more about my budget request:

The people of western North Carolina have suffered tremendously since Helene swept through the region. Today, I submitted my initial $1 billion budget request to address our most urgent recovery needs, including rebuilding homes, jumpstarting the economy, strengthening infrastructure, and more.

So many Black North Carolinians have made all our lives better, and we are forever indebted to them for their efforts. During Black History Month, we celebrate their sacrifices and take inspiration from their contributions so that we too can make the lives of others better.

Our public schools are the launching pad of our state’s future. I was delighted to visit Eastern Elementary yesterday in Greenville to witness how they are preparing students for success. Thanks for having me!

NASCAR is an important part of who we are in North Carolina — it’s an economic engine and a source of pride.

Currently, North Carolina is the most populous state in the nation without a stand-alone children’s hospital. Thanks to the partnership among UNC Health, Duke Health, and our state leaders, we will now be able to care for more children right here at home.

Like many of you, I am concerned that freezing federal funding will hurt North Carolinians, especially those recovering in WNC.

We are excited to be home to even more Amgen jobs here in North Carolina. They will bring in hundreds of new jobs, and their innovation will help bolster our economy. Let’s get to work, NC! abc11.com/post/biotech...

Today on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the 11 million people, including 6 million Jews, who were killed during the Holocaust. We must keep them in our hearts and remain committed to ensuring that we do not allow history to repeat itself. May their memories be a blessing.

⁨Western NC, we won’t forget you.⁩
