One thing that continues to stand out to me since the beginning of the season is how small the Knicks are outside of the starting lineup. Against the bigger teams it’s really hard to ignore. Mitch will help, but more to be done in the offseason.

Let’s talk about the Knicks bench. Shamet, Payne & Precious are inconsistent, undersized journeyman. I expect they will be replaced with bigger, better players in the off season. Tyler, Hukporti & Dadiet are not ready (defensively) for meaningful time yet. Only Mitch will help when healthy.

Knick fans: there is a cost to playing kids who aren’t ready. 1. They will be targeted by the opposition. Must be able to defend. 2. Young players confidence can be crushed early. The coach is not going to put players in a position to fail. Sometimes there are no good answers.

Yes, the Knicks need to add depth. That will be dressed in a few possible ways. 1. Be assured they are developing Hukporti, Kolek and Dadiet. Same as they did McBride. Earliest we see the fruits is next year. 2. Trade of Mitch, Precious or Sims and 2nd rounders. 3. Buyout market.
