Not sure how I feel about the steel issue but , if we want to be independent, no reliance on USA or EU then we are going to have to invest in steel, energy, and industry in general. We gave it up to become a service industry now we realise how short sighted that was.

Went to a funeral today. Dick Probert was my leading hand at Southmead fire Station when I joined Blue Watch in the early 1980’s. He was to use his own phrase. “A bugger up the back”. But what a character. Never always saw eye to eye but sadly missed. Met up with some of the original watch too.
