‘We did some polling and found that 38% of adults across Britain were only going to be able to afford their heating by rationing their heating or making cuts elsewhere.’ Our Head of Policy @matt-copeland.bsky.social speaks to BBC Radio York about the April price cap rise.

#ICYMI Yesterday Ofgem confirmed that the typical energy bill will increase by over £100. This is the third successive increase to the energy price cap. Millions are already in fuel poverty and are facing crushing debt and are struggling to stay warm, safe and healthy.

Our Head of Policy @matt-copeland.bsky.social tells BBC Radio Humberside, ‘The really key thing for low-income households is the Warm Homes Plan.’ Matt adds that more efficient homes means that households will use less gas so will be less exposed to the volatility of gas prices.

We're recruiting a Home Retrofit Consultant to help householders in #Oldham apply for energy efficiency retrofit measures. They'll also work to support householders through the installation process. Apply here: https://buff.ly/4bf7jwY

'We need long term solutions but you also have to grapple with short term urgency... People living with ill-health and dying younger because of cold homes,' says our Chief Executive @adamscorer.bsky.social on @channel4news.bsky.social. He's responding to the energy #PriceCap rising by 6.4% in April

On BBC Wales News, our Head of @nea-cymru.bsky.social @bensaltmarsh.bsky.social explains the stark findings from our polling that reveal that over half of adults in Wales say they are likely to ration their energy over the next three months. #PriceCap

On BBCRadio Wales now, Head of @nea-cymru.bsky.social @bensaltmarsh.bsky.social is in the studio speaking about the energy #PriceCap rising from April. He also discusses our polling on how high energy bills are affecting households in Wales. 'The cost of energy remains stubbornly high,' he says.

10% of households say they are likely to go into debt with their energy supplier in the next few months. With bills rising in April and energy debt at a record high - the most vulnerable will be the hardest hit.

Despite making cuts in other areas, over one in 10 adults have struggled to afford their heating. Bills have remained high for many years and will increase again in April.

Many households have only been able to afford to heat their homes over the winter by making cuts elsewhere. When bills rise again in April, we expect even more households to have to make these difficult decisions.

Over a quarter of prepayment meter customers in GB have been unable to top up their meters over the last year. Today's news that #EnergyBills are rising again will be especially concerning for these households.

A month ago, we were in #Liverpool for our #FuelPovertyConf. Watch @metromayorsteve.bsky.social and The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority talk about their work to tackle fuel poverty across Merseyside.

This morning, the government announced that the #WarmHomeDiscount could be expanded to almost 3 million more UK households. Our Chief Executive @adamscorer.bsky.social says this could help 'those in real hardship'.

Worryingly nearly six in 10 adults in GB have not been able to comfortably afford their heating bill without making cuts elsewhere. We are releasing our new statistics with @YouGov.co.uk following the announcement that the energy price cap will rise again in April.

Ofgem has announced that energy bills will rise from April. This is worrying as our new polling with YouGov.co.uk shows that nearly half of adults in GB expect to ration their energy over the coming months.

Following news the energy #PriceCap will increase to £1,849 from April, our Chief Executive @adamscorer.bsky.social tells @theguardian.com, 'We already see the impacts of sustained high bills.' www.theguardian.com/business/liv... (1/2)

Following the energy price cap announcement, our Chief Executive Adam Scorer says that this news will 'add to the burden on the most vulnerable'. Our latest @Yougov.co.uk polling shows that nearly half of adults across GB expect to ration their energy.

Just now, Ofgem confirms that the typical energy bill will increase by over £100. This is the third successive increase to the energy price cap. Millions are already in fuel poverty and are facing crushing debt and are struggling to stay warm, safe and healthy.

Our Head of Policy and Public Affairs @matt-copeland.bsky.social writes an article in @bigissue.com about what the government needs to do tackle fuel poverty.
