The crux of this framing is that men will “exploit” trans inclusivity to perv in women’s bathrooms. The problem is: men - like the *registered sex offender* in this story - already do this, and there’s zero evidence that trans-inclusive policies have suddenly incentivised more of them into action.

Have often thought along these lines. I know it's not black and white (new state was financially beholden to British state that wanted them to fail) but still. The comparison between the Ireland that could have been and what it became is stark. They got it so so wrong.
