I’m beginning to think that politics is stuck in a “buy cheap, buy twice” mindset- we’ve cheaped out on policy, it hasn’t worked so now we’re doubling down on buying even cheaper expecting that to work better…

One of those “today’s office” posts… playing with the new Genelec 8381 main monitors. Back at the University of Birmingham

Caught these birds doing a low level air show. They flew in perfect formation over the surf.

Yesterday morning I was driving into work ranting about the state of the world. Some random person at a crossing just walked out into the road in front of me (when it was green for me)- earphones in and head down looking at their phone. It was almost poetic timing from the Universe.

It frustrates me that people see fascists trying to fundamentally change the way the world works and simply dismiss it as “crazy”. The world is not “rules”. The world is “ideas”. The rule “Refugees have rights” will not save you if they convince enough people that there is no such thing as a refugee

Morning baking routine. Batch of date balls cooked up.

Japan 2013… I was staying with a friend for a week just on a bit of a spur of the moment trip. Such an amazing place…

2011 in Pattaya. We had spent a couple of days on Koh Lan with my cousin before heading to see family.

2019. View across the Tonle Sap and Mekong in PP. That year I’d gone with my lad who was 5 and my father to visit family and show my boy a bit of the country.

Another shot from 2015 at the village where a few of my aunts lived. My one aunt was a healer. She passed away not long before this trip. The first time we visited, she gave us a crash course in Khmer culture and our history. I miss her a lot.

The fact that no one really knows what the scrapping of NHS England is really about highlights the insane bureaucracy in this country. Meanwhile, I had a text from the doctors telling me to send my latest BP and I can book an NCT or NCA with no explanation of any of the acronyms…

Another from my 2015 trip. At Angkor Wat. There was a young monk up on one of the library buildings. I’d asked him if I could take a photo and he’d obliged with the classic pose. #angkor #cambodia

The day job. Running a bit of a calibration for a Genelec system at the University of Birmingham
