This is a terrible attack on refugees' right to secure long-term safety and belonging in the UK. 'Good character guidance amended to block refugees from naturalisation' by @freemovement.bsky.social ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Microsoft Research: GenAI can inhibit critical engagement with work and can potentially lead to long-term overreliance on the tool and diminished skill for independent problem-solving. Microsoft: *sells GenAI aggressively into the Education 365 packages*

New piece up on @lawfare.bsky.social about DOGE’s violations of foundational commitments in the Privacy Act. Sen. Ervin and Sen. Goldwater would be aghast. www.lawfaremedia.org/article/doge...

Musk is the living embodiment of AI: a broken, tech-bro tool that inserts itself into everyone's life unsolicited and makes everything worse.

Must read. “Elon Musk is not a federal employee, nor has he been appointed by the President nor approved by the Senate to have any leadership role in government.”

Setting quotas of arrests per day. You know what happens when you have a quota to meet? Scoop them up and let the court sort it out. They will be grabbing anyone they can. No proof of citizenship on your person? Too bad. That’s an arrest. Look “illegal?” Explain it to the court someday.

The problem with ChatGPT is that you can only know whether it's answer is wrong "modestly coherent" or "extremely proficient" if you already knew what it was.

Chelsea’s inconsistency does my head in. And where is Madueke? #CHEFUL

While I’m pleased for Liam Lawson if the news about the Red Bull seat are true, I don’t understand what more Yuki Tsunoda has to do to get the seat?! #F1

No one has any idea if and when Syria will be stable, let alone safe! This is outrageous. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024...

Black Friday reminder: You can save 100% if you don't buy anything!

Took Charles only 1 lap to drop Max out of DRS there, but we’re supposed to buy this narrative of Sainz being a team player…#F1 #LasVegasGP

Hi to my new followers!! I’m comparatively new here too and still learning how the platform works. My research focuses on the ethical challenges of the digitisation of borders. I’m interested in particular in questions of accountability, responsibility, justice and personhood. Nice to meet you!

A beautiful sky this evening. Doesn’t make anything in the world better, but I relish the momentary peace it brings…

So it’s going back, then? Jesus wept.

Rugby referees sound a lot like someone walking their dog: “leave it!”; “wait!”; “No!”

This Sprint will be the test of whether Lando really does want to win “the right way” or if what he really wants is team orders. #F1

Alternate timeline where every U.S. media outlet spends a decade fixated on explaining to the public why it is that the economic anxiety of Black and Latinx women, who are consistently at the bottom of these things, has never led them away from a politics of solidarity or toward fascism

Two great seminars with my Contemporary Political Theory students today! The Wretched of the Earth is one of my favourite books teach - such an extraordinarily rich text, with so many layers and intersecting themes. Days like today remind me why I love teaching!

What fresh tech-bro hell is this?! And what the f*** is the “grief tech” industry?!

This pearl clutching about swearing in #F1 is the most ridiculous thing!

This should be bigger news: AI is *revitalizing the fossil fuels industry.* Bloomberg called it a "surprising resurgence" in gas-fired power plants when we were on the brink of a transition to clean energy. And big tech has nothing to say about it. www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/ai-is-revi...

Who will rid me of these turbulent migrants? asks Keir Starmer, choosing not to notice the means employed against them.

A phenomenal drive by Oscar Piastri. Absolutely phenomenal. What a talent he is! #F1

I’m starting to wonder if the Sky Sports F1 folks can count. All Verstappen has to do for the rest of the season is score points, and for a few of the races finish ahead of Norris and he’ll win. This championship is not as close as they’re trying to make it. #F1

What I’m hoping undecided American voters will understand in November: there’s all the difference in the world between a candidate caring about your vote, and a candidate caring about your life… @kamalaharis.bsky.social

Will be cutting ties with the toxic other place entirely by the end of this week and moving over here to keep with with work related things. Looking forward to a much less toxic environment!

Tickets booked for the #F1 Italian Grand Prix 2025 🏎️🇮🇹 Lewis Hamilton’s first Monza with #Ferrari!! It’s going to be epic!

Just watched Napoleon. Good grief it’s awful! I don’t much mind some of the historical inaccuracies as there is truth to the film and it’s a movie, not a documentary. BUT! The script is tooth-achingly awful; the acting is atrocious. It’s just a collection of decontextualised scenes of impt events.

This news shouldn’t surprise anyone. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

I have a new article out in European Journal of Political Theory on digital border control technology, ethics, and security. Check it out here: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...
