UK HIGHER EDUCATION CRISIS KLAXON! More cuts to professional staff at the University of Nottingham BBC News - University of Nottingham plans to cut more than 250 jobs - BBC News www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This week's university redundancies: Bedfordshire, Bradford, Bournemouth, Cardiff Met, Dundee, Greater Manchester (Bolton), Nottingham, Royal Holloway. This will continue until someone gets a grip.

I note the right wing press (not linking) are working themselves into a frenzy and belittling 'mental health' because Cambridge University is adopting entirely sensible plans to reduce competition and overwork (for students and staff), while increasing breaks and prioritising rest.

Matt Hancock intervened personally to help a pizza firm, owned by a Conservative donor, win a lucrative Covid PPE contract. Two days before winning the deal, the company, which had no previous experience of supplying medical equipment, removed ‘pizza’ from its name bylinetimes.com/2025/04/11/m...

The petition has reached 10,000 - can it keep going?

The Economist here reporting that the plan is more and final genocide and ethnic cleansing, and there’s no noticeable shock about this, because that has been very well understood from the early days.

MPs have been told they’re due to vote on a bill pushing through disability benefit cuts at the end of May or early June. I cannot stress enough how many too sick to work will be left destitute because of these cuts. Why? B/c the assessment is deeply flawed.

My heart goes out to every international student in the United States. Foreign students have helped make American universities the best in the world. Without them America will suffer.

Can we get more of this? “The Japanese American National Museum will ‘scrub nothing,’ Fujioka said, and instead will highlight the importance of DEI. “Our community is based on diversity, equity is guaranteed to us in the Constitution, and inclusion is what we believe in,” Fujioka said.

I hoped Labour would be different. We cannot just keep prioritising the wealthiest of society. Of course, everyone has their issues. But the wealthy are the most able to deal with most issues unlike many others.
