“Our civilisation has entered a virtual space where everything is fake except for death itself” tsakraklides.com/2025/02/19/i...

Renewable energy powered by the sun & the wind offers us the potential to replace the fossil fuel industry with a new energy system. A system that does not exploit us & our planet & ensures that everyone has access to the energy they need to thrive. 5 reasons why renewable energy = social justice👇

Investment in China *alone* on clean energy is now nearly 85% of the *global* investment in fossil fuels www.reuters.com/world/china/...

Some good news for a change Scientists found solar farms had a greater number of species & individual birds per hectare than surrounding arable land Solar did not pose a threat to national food security, esp when built on low or moderate grade agricultural land www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

An important thread about Ukraine and European security from the former minister of foreign affairs of Lithuania. Worth reading. Europe must act fast. Not only for its own security but also for the climate. Russian and American fossil fuel interests cannot be allowed to dictate European priorities.

A powerful and inspiring piece from Ilana Cohen on climate action.

“Fossil fuels remain cheap because they have never paid for the damage they have done” The Hon Doug Cameron, former Senator for NSW at the #ClimateIntegrity Summit.

We know this but politicians keep giving companies a free ride

Fmr Senator Doug Cameron: fossils are only considered a 'cheap' energy source because they have never paid for their externalities - their waste, their environmental impacts or their social cost. #auspol #climateintegrity #climate @dncameron.bsky.social

WE vote in the same governments over and over and expect things to be different "this time" no, we need to stop voting for the big 2, to get any meaningful action on Climate change while the big 2 are still funded and controlled by fossil fuel interests. #auspol www.thesenior.com.au/story/888575...

‘We’re the Millers’ is a darkly ridiculous movie from 2013 about bad debts and double-dealing desperados. It’s a good film, but it’s not as funny as Australia’s policies on the exploitation our national resources by foreign companies. #election2025 #auspol #insiders

Too late. . .?

Trump is capitalism in human form, stripped of its disguises. The violent seizure of other people's resources, the exploitation of other people's catastrophes, the predatory gleam in the psychopath's eye. #Gaza #Genocide

"In the ideological Terra Nullius, where a trickle down ordinariness is imposed on our meticulously engineered apathetic society, Tame has stood out as one of the few public figures willing to to stand up for what they believe in." @boganintel.bsky.social

And now the diagnosis.....

"Researchers from 4 Australian unis have released a new paper questioning why solar microgrids are not ‘the norm’ in remote Central Australia, while energy insecurity prevails in very remote Aboriginal households." Because Australia is racist + wants them dead, that's why. #NTPol #AusPol

Fucking oath I always say that I’m nice, I’m not polite

California Smashes Myth That Renewables Aren't Reliable cleantechnica.com/2025/01/24/c...

Trump’s pen bleeds smoke, signing away tomorrow while wildfires scream, floods roar, & droughts choke our future dry. Blizzards crash where snow’s a stranger, and yet he sells our breath for profit. This isn’t politics—it’s survival. We rise because the planet can’t wait. atmos.earth/advice-from-...

This clearly applies to Australia where all our political representatives clearly support and acquiesce to big business. The return on our natural resources is but just one area where we a denied by this alignment of money and power

Speaking to truth

Clear and consice

This headline from a French daily newspaper shows something very clearly. The rest of the world is shocked at what fools Australia's political elite are. We are paying the US to threaten our independence.

"the model of journalism we have used for more than 100 years has been tested in this era of bald-faced political fabrication, dissembling and existential environmental threat. It has been found utterly wanting " meanjin.com.au/essays/the-t...

The whole discourse about whether or not the planet is heating up faster than projected is important and interesting, but, folks, let's remember: even if the planet is heating up exactly as fast as projected, life is still going to get worse and worse until we phase out fossil fuels.

Absolutely correct, we must be able to embrace, and survive contraction. Growth is consumption and resources are finite
