Few films capture as well the veil of virtue imposed by the repressive conservatism of the Estado Novo as O Delfim by Fernando Lopes. Alongside excellent directing the film effectively conveys the descriptive depth of the book of the same name by José Cardoso Pires which served as its inspiration.
