1965, the Vox Mando guitar. Tuned an octave higher than standard it allowed the player to get a mandolin sound without having to learn mandolin fingering. Its most famous on record appearance is the intro to The Beach Boys "Wouldn't It Be Nice", played by The Wrecking Crew's Barney Kessel
