Anyone out there whose good at federal contract research? I need a hand with something.

Javier Milei pumped a meme coin, which was a rug pull. He is now defending this as "capitalism." Libertarians are actively trying to argue now that pump-and-dumps should be legal ... which is why almost no one trusts them enough to give them actual authority over anything. And yet, here we are.

People close to the situation who I trust - multiple sources - tell me that Manigault has been preparing a corruption case to hand to the U.S. Attorney. One problem. We don't have a U.S. Attorney.

What the hell, man? What are you doing? Gebbia has Atlanta-area roots. This one hurts. www.newsweek.com/airbnb-joe-g...

i have other things to do tonight. But Keisha Lance Bottoms bugs me on general principles right now. She just sent out fundraising emails and texts for "Georgia's Promise," an undefined "progressive" PAC. Last year, this C-street political operative incorporated "Georgia's Promise Inc." WTF.

Keisha Lance Bottoms just sent out a fundraising email pitch for something she's calling "Georgia Promise," a political action committee with no meaningfully-defined goals. One: get the fuck entirely out of here with shitty fundraising emails that do nothing except trade on your name.

Timothy Pratt owns the Cop City story. I am officially a strap hanger on his train. This is bonkers. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

So, the government is going to own the means of production by nationalizing private assets. There's a word for this.

Two images. A protest raging outside the capitol. Sen. Tanya Anderson with Sen. Shawn Still inside, doing civics lessons with high school students from Suwanee.

The Atlanta inspector general, citing attacks on her family and legislation obstructing her office, just resigned.

Organizers of the #50501 movement have another protest scheduled today at noon at the capitol in Atlanta. I spoke to one of them about what they're about, why they're not the 501c3 types, and what they're trying to accomplish. Happy President's Day.

I spent much of the morning talking to conservative voters in Georgia, taking a temperature check of sorts about how Trump's base is assessing the first 30 days or so. There is *some* apprehension around Musk and prices still being high, but in general they approve of what they're seeing.

This is, of course, wildly illegal.

I'm at Vicky's Tacos in Gainesville. Al pastor is perfect. Eat here.

I like aquamation. Turn me into goo when I die. Feed me to a plant. Alas, there is but one such facility in Georgia. There might have been two - and perhaps there still will be. But it's not going to be in my back yard it seems.

I am in the market to interview interesting people in Atlanta - people with a unique perspective on the unfolding catastrophe in Washington, news makers in Georgia or people who can tell me a good Atlanta story. Who do you think could stand some attention, or some pointed questions, or a laugh?

My wife teaches freshman composition at Georgia Gwinnett College. We are from the before-times, exposed to decades of mediocre writing from overwrought, grammatically-challenged 19-year-olds. My babies: do not use AI in a composition course. She can smell that shit from space.

I had to pick something up at the airport a moment ago. I have a new phone. I'm taking lots of pictures with it. Someone working there had the nerve to tell me its illegal to take pictures walking around the baggage area. Another time of day, I would make an issue of it. It is perfectly legal.

I just paid a dollar a slice for plantains at "Authentic Jamaican Cuisine" restaurant Irie Mon in Colony Square, and a $7 slice of "Brooklyn" pepperoni pizza at Luca's. Seriously. I recognize that I'm in a place that is wildly overpriced, but I have still made a terrible mistake.

Your patience with the newsletter is requested: the piece I'm writing about cremations in DeKalb County and a permit on Memorial Drive will run tomorrow AM. I need to give people time to get back to me with some documents. Also, everything is on fire.

I am working on the kind of story where I can't call people directly because it's not safe for my phone number to show up in their records. Day 21.
