Economics of scale is the idea that more goods that a manufacturing plant produces the cheaper a good gets. So the bigger a market is, the cheaper goods get. Tariffs shrink markets which means goods get more expensive. Hence #Trumpflation

It’s funny that conservatives think it’s a liberal plot to make tariffs a bad thing. The evidence that tariffs are bad goes all the way back to the Corn Laws in 1815 and reinforced with Brexit. Even in Ferris Buellers’ Day Off conservative Ben Stein talks about tariffs further the Great Depression.
