The process to become a US citizen is so much more difficult and expensive than it was for our ancestors. It’s a lot of waiting for bureaucracy to do a lot of nothing for years. Papers get passed around, the citizen pays fees and more fees. It’s insanity. I can see why some won’t wait.

The House bill sucks, and so far there are a ton of GOP senators who hate parts of it: Murkowski says no to Medicaid work requirements. Hawley wants a bigger child tax credit. Rounds says spectrum auctions have to come out. Johnson and Graham say it’s too expensive. We’ll see if they cave.
