Gonna go see about a mind.

Reading zone in Portland. Have books, have dog, just need my coffee. ☕️

Since learning new things (and the curiosity drive) share the same neural pathways as sexual pleasure, it would seem attractive to want to learn new things. I simply don’t understand why so many are curiosity inhibited. Is there a connection between despising learning and a deformed sexuality?

We can rethink our assumptions: “The ‘everyone’s a bit autistic’ myth can be actively harmful. It’s often used to dismiss the challenges we face or to argue that autistic people don’t really need support.” By @draimeegrant.bsky.social: theconversation.com/everyone-isn... #neurodiversity #autism

So much of what we do in life is motivated by fear and anger. I get it. Our ancestors rightly feared messing with cave bears. And we ought to be angry with those who kick us in the shin for no good reason. My hope is you live long enough to be primarily motivated by a fearless love for others.

Mysteries of Life File no. 237: Why do aging men put dye in their beards? While I get the brazen vanity, I wonder if these dudes realize on any level - putting dye in one’s beard makes a man look wretched. It doesn’t fool anyone, and it communicates to those who look at you that you’re fragile.

AOC: The math is not adding up. Their claim is that one million undocumented people are on Medicaid. So why are they trying to cut 13.7 million Americans off their healthcare?

Chilling final paragraph and editor’s note.

The old axiom stands true today; Just because you can do a thing, does not mean you ought to do a thing.

[ Plugs into the BlueSky community hive mind ] beep. In the context of my work over the last decade, it may be that I need to understand something about “compassion fatigue”. Does anyone have any resources, well written articles or anything else I might take a look at? Not asking for a friend.

“Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.” Christopher Morley

🎯 All those things PBS taught us about the beauty of diversity, the importance of inclusivity, love, compassion, friendship... It all just went over their heads. The regime champions cruelty, exclusion, racism, and authoritarianism.

“As long as we continue to live as if we are what we do, what we have, and what other people think about us, we will remain filled with judgments, opinions, evaluations, and condemnations. We will remain addicted to putting people and things in their "right" place.” ~ Henri Nouwen

So, I don’t know if he’s entirely comfortable with me sharing this, but George Bailey the Dog has some vision issues according to his veterinarian. What’s the word from the BlueSky community? Trim his facial fur back a bit or just leave it over hung and cute? And now we wait, George. 🍿
