It is literally my job to question not only whatever ruling by whatever court I like, but also every other bit of the law that happens to interest me. Additionally - and for everyone else - there's Art 10 EHCR, which makes it not only my job but also the law that I can, y'know, question the law.

“To lose an election, Mister Poilievre, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose your seat in Parliament looks like carelessness.” - Canadian Oscar Wllde

The genius of the contemporary disruptive right has been finding low-information voters, and feeding them tailored doses of even lower information.

Bye Pierre- don’t let the door hit you on ur way out✨ Or do. That’s also fine🤭🇨🇦

I do enjoy how a certain flavour of Brit will give Americans the gears for having a provincial perspective, then turn around and have a public conniption because somebody on the Internet has never heard of one specific London suburb's football team.

To celebrate my second anniversary here on Bluesky, I've made a donation to Trans Lifeline, because, right from the start, Bluesky wouldn't be Bluesky without its trans folks. translifeline.org

Let me remind everyone that polygraphs are, in practice, pseudoscience interrogation tools not ‘lie detectors.’ www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... Furthermore, use of polygraphs enables interrogators (knowingly or otherwise) to launder their own biases & bullshit thru the machine.

Autocorrect has become our worst enema.

The British Medical Association Resident Doctors are the backbone of the NHS, they look after us all in hospital. They passed this motion at their conference which pulls the “supreme” court judgement to pieces. They call it “scientifically illiterate” and “biologically nonsensical” 1/3

Thank you, Victoria 🙏🙏🙏 "I have reached the conclusion that the national situation and present judicial framework is no longer such that it is possible in a dignified way to be both trans and a salaried, fairly prominent judge in the UK." archive.is/7fjaZ #LGBTQIA #Trans #SpeirGorm #IrishSky

It’s notable that Sinners (incredible, original, inventive, massive success) was accompanied by like six trailers, every goddamn one of which was for a sequel/prequel/remake/existing IP. Like. Cmon guys what are we doing here

The EHRC have been trash for a long time, on race, disability, and sex discrimination (the actual thing, rather than the invented thing of trans people existing being in itself anti-women). And of course, a fortiori, on trans rights

I keep having this dream that the Church of England and its bishops would stand up in unequivocal support of #trans people … a simple public statement of love and support for a minority which is terrified, marginalised and whose voice has such little reach … imagine that Church, that leadership …

Wrote to my MP yesterday mainly to thank her for being pretty solid on trans rights. I figure it's good for them to know that sticking their necks out to defend our communities is really appreciated.

The only European countries with worse gender recognition are Hungary, Russia and Bulgaria. Well done UK, formerly competing for best position for LGBT rights, now way down the bottom.

So ive just seen a distracted boyfriend meme that's riffing on medusa, and it's clearly ai slop, and the watermark leads to an ai slop page and like...people used to *make* this nonsense. Part of the fun was that people took their time to do something. That was magical! And worthwhile!

As folks gear up for the week ahead, a quick reminder that the EHRC's so-called 'guidance' may in fact be unlawful (as well as being only guidance), and that there is absolutely no reason to comply in advance. In case your institutional e-mails begin to institutional e-mail.

I need my cis people to realize that "Trans rights" are material, not metaphysics. We deserve access to HRT with informed consent, not gatekeeping. We desrve bodily autonomy. To not be fired, exploited, or evicted. To not be discriminated against.

THE BIGGEST NEWS! Rob and I are offering up a hand-signed hardback, first edition/first printing copy of Monstrous Regiment straight from the Pratchett archives. Those who know the story will know why it’s a pertinent one for this cause. (More pics to come.) www.32auctions.com/organization...

Solidarity with all trans, non-binary & intersex people facing the harsh and ill-considered guidance issued by the EHRC. It’s full of holes & has clearly been written without input from trans people. I will push for this to be withdrawn until thought-out guidance can be produced.

THIS. Once you have established that there is a group, however small, for which "disappearance, kidnapping, etc" is a normal, legal, bureaucratically permissible outcome, the only work a fully fascist state needs to do is *expand who goes into that group*.

This. Deportations didn't suddenly become bad because fascists are using deportation to facilitate mass atrocity. Deportation itself is the whole problem, actually. And this isn't just a US problem. The Mediterranean Sea is the deadliest border in the world.

The BBC News website has not mentioned this aspect at all, in case you wondered how far their systematic erasure runs.

Obviously you need to perform due diligence with public domain illustrations, as even the most well-curated collections can make mistakes, but I was looking at a collection of alleged public domain woodcuts from 16th Century demonology textbooks and one of the demons was clearly eating a hamburger.

The final honor guard for Pope Francis included migrants, prisoners, transgender people, the homeless and others selected by the Vicariate of Rome as a symbol of the late pope’s mission of inclusion and outreach. Read more from the funeral: wapo.st/3YdDGqM

We're going to need bullet-point guidance on what the law actually says about discrimination, and about single-sex and unisex spaces, to counter the EHRC's obviously-wrong guidance. What should non-discriminatory businesses and services actually do? @goodlawproject.org? @translucent.org.uk?

Pope Francis definitely hated half these ppl arriving for his funeral

I really really don’t want to go on about this, but this #EHRC stuff is existential stuff for trans people and our hard-won rights. What does it say about the UK that our leaders gleefully embrace the destruction of a tiny minority’s human and legal rights? What have we become/are we becoming?

I had a v bad night’s sleep. If this guidance is adopted - of course it will be - & enforced, the UK will become a ‘bio-essentialist’ state in which the meaning of language (‘lesbian’, ‘gay’) becomes defined by decree, & freedom of association is restricted. This is authoritative monstrosity.

One of the salient political facts of our time is that the people in the US who are most empowered to make decisions on what counts as antisemitism, and what should be done about it, are mostly non-Jews who are operating in direct opposition to what the majority of American Jews think and desire.

The person in your life who’s convinced you’re not really autistic is also the hardest on you about every single autistic trait you exhibit, it has been confirmed.

I can no longer replicate this result. That doesn't mean Google AI is now 'right' or 'better'. It only means it's different, and there's no way to know why. A batch of stolen classics papers uploaded? Manual intervention? Whatever. A source that cannot be relied on to remain consistent is useless.

Or, instead of relying on a bullshit machine that will dry up a lake to tell you stupid lies, you could simply read a book, watch a documentary, or see a film. www.techradar.com/computing/ar...
