www.nytimes.com/2025/02/09/o... According to the Pew Research Center, about 1.14% of Americans identify as transgender. As Adam Serwer so perfectly put it in The New Yorker in 2018 about the first Trump presidency: the cruelty is the point.

An unelected broligarch and his merry band of unripened incels have hacked our bank accounts, Bird flu is raging, TB is is spreading, planes are falling out of the sky, Trump’s planning Gaz-a-Largo and eggs are more expensive than ever, but at least we’re getting plastic straws back.

Trump is more popular than he has ever been. The media is softer on him than it’s ever been. The chief task of the Dems, and of any self-styled #resistance, should be to puncture that bubble of popularity that he currently has in this honeymoon. To drag him - down. Forget the bipartisanship BS.

How is this shit hard?

It’s all so confusing

Forever Never Trump open.substack.com/pub/therickw... “Never Trump matters because it refuses to normalize the absurd and the abhorrent. To abandon the fight now, simply because it’s taxing or unpopular, is a surrender no serious defender of our nation and our values should contemplate.” Amen.

@jenrubin.bsky.social is onto something here Hunter’s pardon isn’t the issue. What matters are pardons for everyone else.

"Foreign governments and their leaders were, like many Americans, happy to consider Trump’s first term an aberration, an electoral fluke, one they could wait out while American institutions limited the damage. Now they know it is not, and will adjust accordingly." www.thebulwark.com/p/youll-miss...

Trump voters will pay $29.99 for a $2 bill with his face on it, but this election was about the “price of eggs.”

As Adam Serwer said so presciently years ago, the cruelty is the point. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/25/o...

Wow! I’ve never heard of Melanie Stansbury before, but she is my new heroine. Watch till the end! 🔥 x.com/reallyameric...

What do those hateful bigoted maga dumbfucks think happens in women’s bathrooms? Do they think we’d see someone’s penis? Do they think we’re all just walking around in there with our vaginas hanging out?

As ⁦‪@AdamSerwer‬⁩ so famously wrote in The Atlantic in 2018, “the cruelty is the point.” This shameful move by Trump toady Nancy Mace goes so far outside the bounds of human decency, it leaves me speechless. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/19/u...

So, the same Republicans who spent years & tens of millions of our tax dollars demanding to see the contents of a laptop belonging to Joe Biden’s private citizen son, don’t want to see the ethics report on the former Congressman Trump wants to make our nation’s Attorney General?

“We must refuse to participate in a mass delusion. We must refuse to accept that the ignorance on display is a congenital condition rather than a choice. All of us should refuse to pretend that any of this is normal and that these voters are just woefully misunderstood.”

Jesus Christ. A billionaire oligarch and sociopathic narcissist whom no one elected is inserting himself into sensitive foreign policy… what could go wrong?! www.nytimes.com/2024/11/14/w...

Seems like if nominees for Attorney General and Director of National Intelligence can't withstand an FBI background check, that's a red flag

I’m becoming convinced that these so-called Trump cabinet appointments are one giant troll. Trump knows many of them will never be approved, so he’ll eventually withdraw them and appoint one-degree-less-insane people, who will seem sober and reasonable by comparison. But they will still be MAGA.

“Mr. Trump clearly expects the Senate to simply roll over and ignore its responsibilities. He wants to turn the leaders of major important agencies into his deputies, remaking the federal government into a Trump Inc. organization chart entirely subordinate to him.” www.nytimes.com/2024/11/14/o...
