5. Create the facade that these attacks are targeted by stating Israel's 'justification' as fact

4. Position Israel's widescale destruction of the West Bank as a 'retaliation'. Even though Israel had escalated its destruction across the occupied West Bank since the Gaza ceasefire started

3. Become an Israeli mouthpiece, echoing their 'justifications' whilst burying information about the forced displacement of 40,000 Palestinians (screenshot from our app)

2. Selective reporting The Western mainstream instantly reported on the bus explosions near Tel Aviv. But hardly any reported on the development that two Israelis were arrested. And none reported on the two children that Israel killed in Hebron and Jenin the next day.

This is a screenshot from our app where The AP's article is compared with a Mondoweiss article about Israel's escalated attacks across the West Bank. It's a perfect example of how the mainstream omits crucial context, such as Israel's plans to annex the West Bank completely.

It’s not just NYT - Western media distracts with ‘diplomatic tensions’ between the U.S., Jordan, and Egypt, burying the reality of ethnic cleansing.

NYT, like other major outlets, distracts from ethnic cleansing by focusing on ‘diplomatic disagreements,’ softening ‘expel’ to ‘take in’ to distort reality.

Although not stated as fact, some major outlets do mention ceasefire violations in their headlines. Overall, the headlines from alternative or non-Western outlets are straight to the point, and starkly contrast the headlines in the beginning of this thread.

A common tactic deployed by the mainstream is the ordering of key information. Here, we've identified how Deutsche Welle and Washington Post only mention ceasefire violations later on in their articles.

This Raffi Berg article has a headline which says "blaming Israel". But for what? Not mentioning the ceasefire violations creates a misleading narrative.

The BBC's coverage of the occupied West Bank is horrifically unreliable. Here's what their West Bank coverage over the past week looks like:

- Just 13 of 50 Western mainstream outlets even mention Palestinians - Even misleadingly soft terms like “remove”, “resettle”, “relocate” and “leave” appear in only 6 mainstream headlines - Just 3 (Common Dreams, WSWS and AJ) explicitly call it “ethnic cleansing” - no mainstream outlet does (3/4)

The Guardian stood out from the mainstream by interpreting Trump’s statement as an endorsement of ethnic cleansing. Our app has found 211 outlets covering Trump’s ethnic cleansing proposal. We conducted a word frequency analysis on these headlines and the results are shocking. (2/4)
