Saint Irenaeus said, “The glory of God is a human being fully alive.” Marilyn was, for a time in her life, fully alive. She later died of a broken heart, but she makes me smile. During these dark days Marilyn is a breath of fresh air.

In 2011 Pope Leo XlV (then a US bishop) said TV and movies have created “sympathy for beliefs and practices that are at odds with the gospel... the “homosexual lifestyle” and “alternative families comprised of same-sex partners and their adopted children.” I feel sorry for LGBTQ Catholics today.

Extremely dangerous because both India and Pakistan have nuclear weapons. There is bitter and longstanding ethnic and religious hatred. This could spiral out of control quickly. I don’t have confidence in Trump to broker a ceasefire (if he even knows/cares what’s going on). We must pray for peace.

It’s really embarrassing for our country to have the Prime Minister of Canada as a guest with our president stating he wants to make Canada a 51st state. This is something that a six-year-old might say. It’s arrogant, rude and inappropriate to Canadians who have been our friends for so very long.

I’ve just finished reading Peter Beinart’s “Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza” - painful to read. Seems like everyone’s humanity has been lost in this tragedy. We’re all children of God, created in God’s image. If only we could make that as our staring point in our debates/ conversations.
