"...supporting Trump because he supports Israel, even though he's violating the law, even though he's violating civil rights, is going to turn bad for the Jews. Because we depend on the rule of law, we depend on civil rights, and we abandon them at our peril." -Michael S. Roth, Wesleyan President

Is the Trump administration actually seeking to combat antisemitism? @timothysnyder.bsky.social shared his thoughts in a new video on his Substack. "There has not been a case of people who attack universities in order to side with Jews," Snyder explains. snyder.substack.com/p/fomenting-...

Using Palestinian safety as a pretext for this violent attack on a Jewish governor on the first night of Passover is transparently antisemitic and wrong.

Our thoughts on the Trump administration exploiting the Jewish community's legitimate fears around antisemitism to wage its attack on nonprofits and universities:

NEW: We’ve brought together a broad coalition of organizations representing mainstream American Jewry, condemning the exploitation of our community’s real concerns about antisemitism to undermine democratic norms and rights and our academic institutions. jewishpublicaffairs.org/press-releas...

As Judith Lichtman wrote of HR 9495, threatening tax exempt status to “fight terrorism” (which it is …already illegal to support) is actually a way to gut civil society which this president is doing while making things safer for white supremacists per reports nexusproject.us/nexus-resour...

As a Jewish organization committed to fighting antisemitism and protecting democracy, we say not in our name.

We are dismayed that the home of one of America's highest profile Jewish elected officials, @governor.pa.gov, was targeted in a vicious act of arson on a night when Jewish families come together to celebrate freedom and justice.

It is incumbent on anyone and any organization who is serious about fighting antisemitism and protecting our democracy to oppose the nomination of Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun as U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism.

“Witnessing a government, our government, treating people who have legally protected status to be here as if they don’t, it’s just so eerie,” @lilacb.bsky.social said. “To me, it’s not about the parallel, it’s the principle.”

Deporting green card holders and lawful citizens on the basis of their political beliefs does nothing to keep Jewish Americans safe. On the contrary, the safety of Jewish Americans is integrally tied to civil rights protections and democratic norms. apnews.com/article/mahm...

This is shameful behavior from a member of the United States Congress. Whether or not Rep. Fine agrees with Reb. Tlaib or thinks she should be in Congress, she's a duly elected member, an American, and deserves better than racist smears from a colleague. Language like this makes everyone less safe.

"The Nexus Project, which fights antisemitism and defends free speech, condemned the announcement, saying: 'Treating antisemitism as an imported problem does not fight antisemitism. Using politically malleable language like terrorist sympathizer to go after immigrants does not fight antisemitism.'"

Treating antisemitism as an imported problem does not fight antisemitism. Using politically malleable language like "terrorist sympathizer" to go after immigrants does not fight antisemitism. Doing this while elevating antisemitism, as this administration is doing, does not fight antisemitism.

Per David Myers, "The threat to Jews and to the university in the United States today...comes, ironically enough, from new attempts to silence these protesters in the name of protecting Jews." nexusproject.us/nexus-resour...

“President Trump has taken a real phenomenon that needs to be addressed — antisemitism that emerges out of debates on Israel — and is using it to justify crackdowns on immigration, higher education and free speech on Israel,” Nexus Director Jonathan Jacoby said to @thomaslfriedman.bsky.social.

If StopAntisemitism is interested in stopping antisemitism, it should call out those in the government pushing antisemitism, not asking the government to investigate a beloved childhood educator.

"Jew hatred is real, but today’s anti-antisemitism isn’t a legitimate effort to fight it. It’s a cover for a wide range of agendas that have nothing to do with the welfare of Jewish people," writes Michael S. Roth, president of Wesleyan University.

“There is real resistance from the Jewish community. There is real resistance from the civil liberties community, from almost across the board in civil society. There is real danger if this is implemented,” Nexus's @sikevin99.bsky.social told @politico.com about Trump's approach.

A book on Holocaust memorialization is one of 381 books removed from the U.S. Naval Academy's library after Secretary Pete Hegseth's office ordered the school to get rid of books that “promote diversity, equity and inclusion.”

“Trump obviously doesn’t give a damn about antisemitism, this is just an expression of his authoritarianism… …Whenever freedom is curtailed, Jews in particular become victims. That’s the history.” -Rep. @nadler.house.gov, the most senior Jewish member of the U.S. House

Not a single Republican leader has condemned Senator Moreno for calling Senator Chuck Schumer — the highest-ranking Jewish official in U.S. history — “Fuhrer.” That silence is dangerous. We call on GOP leadership to speak out now. Condemn antisemitism clearly. Do not let this stand.

Calling the highest ranking Jewish elected official ever in US history "fuhrer" isn't just wildly inappropriate. It's antisemitic and hateful. It will lead to more hate and should be condemned by all. We can't let this become normal.

“'Anytime you put Jews in the middle on an issue, it’s not good for the Jews,' said Jonathan Jacoby of the Nexus Project. 'That’s a classic antisemitic position that antisemites like to put Jews. So they can be scapegoated.'”

The focus of her essay is on last Congress's attempt to strip NGOs of nonprofit status without due process, but Judith Lichtman's essay on antisemitism and the attack on civil society in the time of Trump is relevant here, too nexusproject.us/nexus-resour...

This week, the @nexusproject.bsky.social released its strategy for battling antisemitism while maintaining democracy, with an emphasis on the “democratic rights and liberties that truly keep us safe.”

Proud Jewish American, Dean Emeritus of Tuft's Tisch College, and Nexus Project board member Alan D. Solomont urges the Jewish community to speak out: "What happened to Ozturk, and many other international students, will not make Jewish students safer." www.bostonglobe.com/2025/04/01/o...

We are done with the Trump administration using Jews for political gain. This is our alternative strategy for confronting antisemitism — and its political exploitation — in the Trump era:

Are you interested in fighting antisemitism, but don't want to facilitate the Trump administration's campaign of mass deportations and war on American academia? Try @nexusproject.bsky.social . Featuring input from @dovwaxman.bsky.social, @bulldogshadow.bsky.social, Hannah Rosenthal, and more.

I recommend Myers's essay & call to "encourage college and university leaders to join together...against efforts that diminish the independence of institutions...impose restrictions on free speech, & seek to identify & act against those deemed political undesirables" nexusproject.us/nexus-resour...
