New blog post: The 4Ds Roles and Responsibilities Workshop emilywebber.co.uk/the-4ds-role...

🚨 We're delighted to announce Co-op as our headline partner for #CampDigital 2025! 🎉 The Co-op Digital content design team will also run a workshop, "Exploring modular content design with Co-op", showing how it boosts consistency and makes content more human. 🎟Book tickets at: tinyurl.com/mw4bcyb9

"Real people can't descope parts of their lived experience. The complexity of lived experiences still exists even if we don't research or design for it." @priyanca.bsky.social talked about how disabled people experience ambassador fatigue, and often have to "pick their favourite barrier".

Please stop calling your jobs Director of Digital when you really mean Head of IT. Digital and IT are not the same thing ffs.

Looking forward to speaking to Content Club folks about considering compounding barriers & intersectionality when we think about accessibility. Thank you @niacampbell.bsky.social @adrianortega.bsky.social @contentdesign.london for organising!

Buzzing from today's service patterns workshop. This is the energy, enthusiasm and passion Cymru's public sector needs! 🙌 Diolch i Liam, @adrianortega.bsky.social a @cdps.bsky.social am ddiwrnod grêt!

Excited for @cdps.bsky.social's service patterns workshop today, and hearing about the team's work and ideas so far. 🌟

What’s up Bluesky, I’m starting to look for my next professional opportunity. If you are looking for someone community, co-design or collaboration shaped, please get in touch 💬

I wrote about developing ideas in Service Design for @theschoolofgood.bsky.social and releasing a free set of cards for you to use to help you develop ideas for new and existing services. good.services/blog/develop...

One more terrific talk from the #UserNeedsFirst #GovDesign conference went up on YouTube: @richardpope.org’s closing keynote, “Beyond user needs: Why we need an expanded design philosophy for the digital public sector” with plenty of food for thought— youtu.be/0z3trE1RAlk

Haven't shared my weeknotes here in a while. I mostly write them for myself, so it felt a bit weird. But after a recent wobble, I know that connecting with people is what brings me joy at work, so here's last week's thoughts: medium.com/@niacampbell... @weeknotes-bot.bsky.social

The #curae - which is a unique (globally so) literary prize for unpaid carers - is possible because of a small team of writers who are judges with me, because of top writers, editors, two indie publishers, our amazing literary agents and course provider and everyone who contributed to the bursaries

Considerate Content by Rebekah Barry is available now! Whether you’re an interaction designer, content creator, policy maker, or educator, this book explains how to make your content more inclusive and accessible, with a focus on neurodivergence and health conditions. More info: buff.ly/DaDTEpW

In today's episode of D-I-why-do-I-even-bother: Had a drama-free few hours painting the hallway. No fluff-ups, bit suspicious. Came down the ladder thinking, maybe I've finally cracked this DIY thing... And dunked my foot right into a giant tub of paint. Up to my ankle. What a muppet. 🥸

Worked on a wee event with friends in Exeter. We’re launching a Pecha Kucha in collaboration with @exeterlibrary.bsky.social 10 speakers, 20 slides, 20 seconds each. 13th June Tickets limited tiny.cc/exeterpk

New #UCD mantra suggestion: "Clear content, user interfaces and user journeys by default". 😀

“Design is a conversation, but not everyone is open to having it.” 💯

I wrote a guest post for Piccalilli ⭐️

👋 Anyone got great examples of annual report / review for a public sector org? Accessible, no fluff and waffle, to the point. HTML not designed for print as vanity document? Bonus point if you have any evidence to back up design approach?

"If you really need to tell people where something is, think about writing better content instead of using directions or locations." Lots of great advice in this post on how and why to avoid things like 'see above' and 'link below' in website content. 🙌

If you can help, please do. #curae is not publicly funded - it’s me and a very small volunteer team. We’re up to £820 on the bursary fund for our three eventual winners. Unpaid care is intersectional with financial hardship & many challenges. Let’s do this.

Can't wait to test out some new conversation topics with the Spanish fam this week. Super bueno. Gracias, Duolingo. 🤗

In Newport for UX Wales. Excited to hear @adrianortega.bsky.social and Liam talk about their service pattern work. 🙌

Sut fyddech chi'n dweud "design sprint" yn Gymraeg?

Exciting news 📣 I've just released 2 new dates for my Writing design systems documentation training: - 1:30-5pm UK time, 23 May: bit.ly/4lpG9Z2 - 9am-12:30pm UK time, 29 May: bit.ly/4j2rW2D A half-day course that will teach you how to plan, write and test docs that users will actually read. 1/2

I can’t promise this talk will be educational but it will be painfully honest, potentially funny and delivered with passion - and there will be limited edition stickers 😆

A dead good look at the words we use to describe products and services, and the complexity beneath those.

Happy Monday again! My latest weeknotes on: - Service patterns with Blaenau Gwent Council - Wrapping up website testing - Planning a talk for UX Wales - Design, Deleuze and culture hacking Here you go! bit.ly/4iZ4cw8

Who has been out seeing ancient sites this weekend? Where did you go? What did you see?
