Completely tautoko @fredvh.bsky.social’s comments here. I did do my very best to write a mature and constructive statement too, but 😬 I did feel I should send the @smcnz.bsky.social something. I had said I would 🤷‍♀️

Oh bravo Fox Meyer: “The total budget line for business, science and innovation was $813m. But nearly three quarters of this, $576m, was a rebate for international moviemakers. This left $236 million for science and innovation.“ 🔥🔥🔥

Oooph. There’s a really useful level of detail in here — but pretty interactives don’t make it any bit less ugly 😭

By way of explanation … 😉

How appropriate that the Trump administration wants to open the seafloor to mining on behalf of a company called Impossible Metals.

Is it too much to ask for an IRS Commissioner who understands the law?

But if you consider that eugenics is the point…

Makes me wonder whether a PM has ever been suspended? Are they able to be?

Oh look: some reckons I prepared earlier (too early to use the research below but honestly the productivity gains are very well known…)

Playing with the Greens budget calculator, I really struggle to understand what @chrishipkins.bsky.social and others are worried about. I earn a shitload and own a freehold house in west Auckland. Happy to contribute a bit more a week for my kids to have free dental and stuff. 1/n

“New macro-empirical research finds that every dollar invested in non-defense public R&D yields $1.40–$2.10 in economic output, and since World War II, government funding has driven roughly 20% of U.S. productivity.” Ahem #nzpol #budget2025

Yikes. Overweighted concerns about the vaccine are one thing, especially in a context of individual health (some ppl DO have more reason to worry etc). But this — a direct comparison between the virus & the vaccine, over all time and all populations? My goodness but it does show something 🫣

Good God, vaccine hesitancy has gone from 12% to 26% among Republican parents in the last four years. www.kff.org/health-infor...

NPR published a story 5 days ago about three high ranking Trump officials with clear ties to Hitler-admiring antisemites and it barely made a ripple. These are the kind of stories that used to end political careers. Now the subjects of the stories just hold up a middle finger and keep plowing ahead.

Prosthetics are awesome, actually 🤷‍♀️
