I actually am an avid reader, but I am also pro-human rights in all it's forms: anti-racist, pro-LGBTQA+, and so much more. I'm a NZer. Pro-community. I've been an ESL teacher and I am back in NZ still in education

One thing that I haven't seen calculated yet is just how expensive the current Governments cancellation of years worth of work, and reviews, and on the ground projects has actually been. Not the *savings* they claim, but how much had already been spent on being at the point it was before austerity.

paris proves it: when we stop designing cities for cars and start designing them for people, the air clears, the streets come alive, and life gets better. less smog, more green. less noise, more joy. fewer fumes, more kids playing safely. this isn't some hippy dream, it's a choice.

I am a feminist. I fight for rights. I'm not a feminist so as to tell other women what to wear, believe nor how to live. I fight for your right to an education, vote, work or not work, to safe housing, food and water. If you aren't working to takes rights off people, I won't fight against you

Exactly. In fact if your man is following any MRA or such like, leave as quickly and as safely as possible. They don't value you and only see you as chattel

Israel has said it will release Marwan Barghouti today from its jails. Mr Barghouti is considered by some to be the Nelson Mandela of Palestine. His release has been floated many times & never happened. Let's see... www.britannica.com/biography/Ma...

Look this is easy to solve. We build a consensus coalition that includes AOC, Mitt Romney, Tankies, and Wine Moms. Then something Constitution. We get Gal Gadot to sing “Give Peace a Chance” with the guy in Ramy. We all get off social media and put $1 trillion into mutual aid. Erasing this.

I'm looking into ethical kiwisavers. This article was updated last year in September. But, many of these ethical companies invest in Microsoft and FB. But I don't want to invest in them, either. This is a hard search. www.moneyhub.co.nz/ethical-kiwi...

with destiny church's abhorrent views in the press again, i think it's important not to forget all the white megachurches that hold identical views in new zealand: life church, city impact, arise etc. they are more discreet, but they all hang out and support each other: www.webworm.co/p/holyhell

Was in Thames walking amongst the Mangroves. I took photos of flowers from two different species apparently.

A new bat coronavirus that has the capacity to spread to humans, similar to the one that caused the COVID-19 pandemic, has been discovered by a Chinese researcher. Good thing we are completely prepared this time. www.newsweek.com/new-coronavi...

And who they didn't like

I have lodged a formal complaint with the charities regulator asking that Destiny Church’s charities be struck off because of serious wrongdoing last weekend in my Te Atatu electorate. 1/3

Last weekend, Destiny Church escalated its attacks against the queer community. Destiny wants to drive queer New Zealanders back into the closet. PAPA won't let this happen. We stood for queer liberation as No Pride in Prisons and we stand for it now.

I'm not in favour of bigots. Bigots can sneer all they like when they say 'woke', but bigoted opinions are worthless

Honoring Elizabeth Peratrovich, Tlingit civil rights activist, today and her powerful words: "Asking you to give me equal rights implies that they are yours to give. Instead, I must demand that you stop trying to deny me the rights all people deserve."

If 8 out of 10 of the Bootcamp kids have reoffended and 6 are back in state care, that is an epic fail. No wonder the government don't wanna say! #NZPol

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

What I have noticed over the years is that the right will use a gender or race traitor to dismantle the services that traitor's gender or race most benefits from so the right can say that they aren't sexist or racist bc someone from that group agrees with them

"Refuse to tip-toe around people who claim respect, consideration, special treatment, or any other kind of immunity, on the grounds that they have a religious faith, as if having faith were a privilege-endowing virtue, as if it were noble to believe in unsupported claims and ancient superstitions."

If you're not in the United States and wondering why Americans aren't protesting... Americans ARE protesting. A LOT. There have been massive protests every day this week in multiple major cities - for Palestine, for trans rights, for immigrants and against ICE, against Musk.

So true. I remember saying proudly to my dad that one day I wanted to be self-employed like him as I didn't like many of the bosses I'd had by then. He went on a rant on how bosses provide jobs and I should be glad to have one.
