.@Nick_Carmody explodes the word “populist,” which has been manipulated to mean whatever people want it to. Trump is the fakest of populists. He and his oligarchs are the avatars of its opposite, neoliberalism, which values exploitation of workers and profit for the rich above all human values.

ALL of this. I’m a classic liberal who realizes that most of us non-billionaires want what I think most Trump supporters want- To be out from under the economic suppression of the ultra rich. I’m just not willing to blame the most vulnerable to attain that. And I can’t abide that stance.
