boxd.it/zanS Bonkers body horror about vanity, fame, and the ways in which woman aren’t allowed to age gracefully.  Amazing performances from Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley and (mostly) great special effects but the ending fell flat for me and the running time is unnecessarily long.

boxd.it/HLiw Heartbreaking doc about disappointment and regret. It suffers a bit from a lack of diversity in voices. White people (mostly of privilege) aren’t the only people that struggle or fail to achieve their hopes and dreams. Still worth a watch (it’s streaming on Criterion currently).

Hilarious and tragic take down of the 1930s French Bourgeoisie. I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did but it was layered and surprisingly bold (especially for a film that was released in 1939). It became clearer as the movie went on why it caused such an uproar upon release.

Fascinating, slow burn character study that is equal parts comforting and unnerving. It’s very human in that it’s full of longing and contradictions (connection/disconnection, control/no control, etc). The running time is long but it’s purposeful and allows you to feel closer to the protagonist.
