film essay on sean baker's evolution from take out to anora up on counter arts 😗 medium.com/p/0c0dd15e1743

I love weekends most because I arbitrarily allow myself to eat everything (and ruin my cal deficit for the week). Two steps forward, two steps back, but the steps taste really good, so. 🦶🏻

when you set an alarm for a restaurant to start taking doordash orders because you wanna order faster than the scheduled order option allows (then you might be a loser with a food problem) 🫡

time to come clean. i have a little debbie nutty buddy problem.

been changing my @letterboxd.social app icon daily because i’m fickle. would love (1) a bigger library of options and (2) an option that randomizes daily. dewit. 🫶🏻

Joining a new free streaming service & spending an hour building an obscene watchlist I’ll never get through is a favorite pastime.

Kurosawa my king always come through 🙌🏻

Exhibit A re: why “best” awards decided by voting bodies are & will always be meritless. (Per Variety article)

I didn’t realize how enormous tubi’s cache of movies is, my god

Dirk at the lakers game sitting with luka’s dad is crazy. Nobody in sports has it worse than mavs fans right now lol.

"permit me to introduce myself: luigi mangione" *young john saxon in mario bava's the girl who knew too much*

in favor but (as with anything) the topic is more complex than the public sentiment suggests. as the original article explains, ai has been used in various ways for longer than most people realize, & the academy is inherently reactionary: the fear is that they'll outright bar films that use...(cont)

been revisiting & completing robert bresson's filmography, & was moved by mouchette to write an essay on bresson's objective storytelling style & why it's so affecting. my lazy ahh's last essay was in 2018 lol. would welcome any discussion. 🤓 #filmsky #booksky

Finally watched bresson’s trial of joan of arc & I think it’s THE perfect companion to dreyer’s take: one austere, one expressionistic, each with the director’s signature style & tone, & emphasize different aspects of her dangers while both being faithful to history. 😗🤌🏻 boxd.it/8IHmyv

Letterboxd has over time become the most annoying people from Twitter making the most annoying tweets you've ever read in the form of a film "review"

#OTD 1/29/1964 Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece DR. STRANGELOVE OR: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB premieres. 4 Oscar noms: Picture, Peter Sellers-Actor, Director, Screenplay. One of most brutally on-point satires; seems more possible than ever under current regime! #filmsky 📽🎥🎬🎞

Can’t recall a film that weaponizes subtext & viewer knowledge more viscerally than zone of interest. Further, couldn’t have imagined a feeling more awful than from seeing the atrocities, but the banality of an officer’s family life in earshot of a camp is worse. Glazer is a genius (& I feel sick).

Doesn’t bode well 🫥

lol

Who’s cooler than saquon 🙌🏻

Seeing a pizza on tv and then ordering a pizza is a good metaphor for how I usually decide what movie to watch (& is also something I do non-metaphorically). Last night: double indemnity. Tonight: ? 🍕🎥

Finally organized my bookshelf today & when I was done I’d ordered blurays, books, book ends, & a miniature bust of the statue of david to “fill out the space.” 😭

I didn’t realize what I was missing not watching silent films with a commentary track until I watched passion of joan of arc with casper tybjerg’s commentary.

Four stills from a film you consider a masterpiece, no title. 🎬 #filmsky #MovieSky #masterpiece
