Never obeying in advance. At the Vatican pavilion at the 1964 N.Y. World's Fair, when the guard wasn't looking, I licked Michelangelo's Pieta. AMA.

This Delta flight we're getting on: there are a total of 24 Delta One first-class seats, and 56 people are on the standby list for them. (We're in coach, in row 42. There are no broligarchs clamoring for those seats)

I actually just got a fundraising email from the DNC! DNC, please put down your phones and look at me. Eyes up here. Until you start fighting, until you stop mewling "we're just smol beans with no power, we can't do anything," until you wake the fuck up, you're not getting one dime from me.

Welp, now that civil rights have been ended and we're solidly back to 1963, Eileen and I are off to Hawaii!

Well, my birthday has come and is almost over. Met with the accountant, and I owe $2,000; got my free Starbucks and Panera, walked the dog, and then we went out to dinner. Came out, and it was snowing. That's a good day right there.

As my 70th approaches, I need to embrace the words of Thoreau: "Simplify, simplify." I'm starting tonight: The guy who played Paulie's grandfather ("A Hard Day's Night) should be the same guy who played Mr. Slugworth ("Willy Wonka..."). There's no reason for them to be two different actors.

Welp, looks like I have to add "Conclave" to my screening list.

I don't think that the Muskrats are changing production code in these computer systems; that's really beyond the capabilities of these 20s-ish script kiddies, especially given their days-to-a-week timeframe. But there are a few things that they might POSSIBLY be doing: (1/3)

Wow, a user!! Thank you for those kind words!!! Answers: 1. A metric ton of astrometry equations. Maybe two tons. And I'll be adding periodic comets soon 2. Yes

Loving that Family Guy and Grimsburg both had their season premiere last night, and all my DVR got was an hour of shitty Nascar racing that went late.

Personal boast: I'd set a goal to get StarHalo 2 on the Google Play Store before my birthday — and this morning it went live (play.google.com/store/apps/d...)! I also moved all the StarHalo 2 code to a private repository on GitHub, in case I have a hard drive crash during my 2-week birthday trip.

Well, isn't that nice? Prime Video is giving me three new episodes of "Reacher" for my birthday!

The Mamas & the Papas: "🎶 All the leaves are brown... 🎶" Trump, whispering to his aide: "(have them all deported)"

When this regime is finally brought down*, there's going to be a hiring frenzy the likes of which this country's never seen. *(by incompetence, elections, war, or revolution & guillotine; it's unclear if it'll be in our lifetimes or our children's, but it WILL happen)

One week until I'm no longer nice.

Serious question: why are all these people instantly resigning instead of fighting? Are they being threatened? If so, with what? www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/n...

Continuing my binge watch of Severance; I'm up to p S01E06. I have a good feeling about these folks, and I'm really looking forward to a happy ending.

At this point I'm probably the last New Yorker to say this, but I fucking LOVE when it snows. The world is at its most beautiful on a night like this, with white flakes coming down like confetti. Perfect. No notes. (and now, back to doomscrolling and ragebrowsing)
