It was interesting earlier this morning Ben, when the temperature here in Aviemore was +9C and Inverness was only +2C. The cold plunge moved steadily south and the winds have dropped out too. A nice north south split across the tops between you and me.

In Scotland, we have some of the highest energy prices in the UK. Energy companies tell us that is because of the higher number of rural properties that need expensive cabling to each house. Now that we are moving to huge amounts of wind power being exported to the south, will that change?

The Strome Ferry ceased its regular run in 1970, but following landslides on the A890 (on the road in the image) the Glenelg ferry was brought in in 2012 to avoid the 140 mile detour! In addition, a temporary road surface was also lain on the single track railway line nearby to avoid the landslip.

How was the temperature in your van whilst you were away? Or doesn’t it get that cold over on the isles?

I wonder if they have heaters onboard? Otherwise they will have been pretty cold the last few nights….
