Drip is better than pour over, and it’s not even close.

f the house on the right can fit a in a tight space, then the house on the left should be able to add a similar sized home and lot as well. But minimum lot sizes and lot widths prevent it.

Worth following. @team18f.bsky.social

“I wasn't slacking off and wasting taxpayer money. I was out in the field for 10 hours a day.” One of the rangers fired from Utah’s national parks shares what they loved about their job and how it feels to have to leave it behind. Read my story for @kuer.org ⤵️ www.kuer.org/science-envi...

Are we actually getting back local consent to waive alcohol license proximity requirements for parks and playgrounds? If SB328 S1 is accepted and approved we will. This has been a long haul to get this even this close. le.utah.gov/~2025/bills/...

Imagine taking one of every five cars off the road. It’s easy if you try.

We already know that incentivizing EVs can stimulate adoption but in case you wonder about the demand for the other type of EVs aka e-bikes, here are a few numbers: — California: The queue to apply for California’s new e-bike incentive program, which offered 1,500 vouchers, reached 100,000 people.

“Cities evolve, and zoning doesn't evolve with it at the same pace. So, when you've got more people, more demand, prices go up. Zoning has kind of stolen the freedom & property rights of the individual. Zoning needs to be less restrictive." www-thebuildersdaily-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.theb...

The trans people in the world need your support. Imagine having this much hatred in your heart.

I can’t add anything to this, but we are screwed.

The option for small setbacks is fine. If you want a bigger front yard, that’s fine too. Also, these homes are duplexes, next to detached single homes.

It’s not just here.

Proximity is only changing on 36 contiguous acres within the point of the mountain development area. So dumb not to give local consent to waive the proximity requirements in urban areas, where a church has to be allowed, striping away adjacent owners property rights.

Fourth substitute is out with these lines removed. Traffic calming may live to see another day. le.utah.gov/~2025/bills/...

Some cities that signed on this amicus brief to block Trump's NIH cuts: - St. Louis, Missouri - Harris County, Texas - Salt Lake City, Utah - Gainesville, Florida - Nashville, Tennessee - Cleveland, Ohio - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Madison, Wisconsin - Chapel Hill, North Carolina

The GOP thinks you are a drain if you make less than $360,000 per year, which is 95% of us. Teachers, plumbers, fire fighters, garbage truck drivers, accountants, store clerks, nurses, janitors, college students, line cooks, auto mechanics, and almost everyone else.

Just park it anywhere.

Post a picture of the last game you were at Padres and Astros at Petco Sept 2024.

And I am an ally. If you are too, let the world know.

So did the states. Some great hockey.

Forest managed by private entity that had an estimated $1.7 billion in revenue in 2022 vs forest managed by the US Forest Service.

Removing barriers and giving incentives for adaptive reuse works and costs taxpayers nothing. www.sltrib.com/news/2025/02...

By a 42-6 vote, the Washington Senate just approved a bill directing the state to adopt standards for passenger and freight elevators that are more reflective of global standards, including a specific requirement to allow smaller elevators in buildings with fewer than 25 units.

When so few elected officials in DC will do something, We the People and the media need to rise up when the current administration makes (continuously) dreadful decisions.

Update: this bill passed both house and senate, and on to the governor for signature.

SB195 with a target squarely on SLC and the safety of city streets.

"We must embrace various housing types beyond just single-family homes and large multi-family apartment buildings. We need a housing supply that is affordable, appropriately sized, and capable of accommodating residents at every stage of their lives." www.remainplaces.com/post/we-can-...

This bill makes 300 West from 400 S to 600 N through SLC a city street instead of a state route. le.utah.gov/~2025/bills/...

The job can be done with smaller trucks.

Adaptive reuse (office to residential) projects in SLC.

Walkable neighborhoods are livable neighborhoods.

This driveway could be filled in with a new building, expanding space for small businesses and maybe even a few apartments above. An alley provides access to the backsides of the buildings, so the driveway isn’t needed.

Once again, the Utah Legislature wants to take local taxes for state wide purposes, but also is just fine with some school districts keeping property tax levies so low that other districts have to subsidize them. www.sltrib.com/news/politic...

24-48”. LFG!

Raise your hand if a professional sports team in your* city adopts the street grid. (*plays in a suburb of SLC that didn’t follow most of the grid)

I have a lot of nostalgia for zoning laws that used to allow this to be built.
