Today we wander sunwise around a woodland hill until we find the tower that overlooks the silvery Tay river Can finally feel the shift to springtime 🌱☀️ #scotland #witchsky #pagansky

The predominant and overarching theory of mainstream psychiatry is the idea that we become mentally unwell because there's "something wrong with our brain" ie a "a chemical imbalance". This is founded on ZERO evidence and is ultimately unhelpful to becoming mentally well and resilient.

True witchcraft continuity is not Margaret Murray fantasy, not Gardnerian narrative. True witchcraft continuity is knowing when you learn the tongue contained in murmur of brook, that murmuring tongue was one heard by dead sisters. Our line is the land itself. – #EmilyCBanting, 1982 #WitchSky

Today is #worldbookday and I’m over the moon to be spending the day parceling up and posting the first edition copies of my new book Mill Dust and Dreaming Bread - Exploring Scottish Folk Belief and Folk Magic to early Kickstarter backers.

Feeling disconnected? Go into nature! A spiritual block can be released by simply being around green/blue space, it IS that simple. It doesn't have to be some grand hiking adventure to the wilderness, just a nearby park, garden, or little pocket of greenery is sufficient.

I was reminded of this quote by Katherine Briggs in Fairies in Tradition and Literature. Some folk try to shape the fairy faith into a single dogmatic narrative but that is not the way it has ever worked. Scotland is a melting pot and that pot has been stirred by countless hands over the years.

On the edge of the sky 🍃 I come past this hill every day and yet it took until today to come up. I could hear the trees speaking to each other in the wind 🌲 #scotland #witchsky #pagansky

Exploring again, this time we're at abandoned railway tunnels in #scotland

Movies you've watched more than six times, GIFs only. The Love Witch is such a huge film for me 🥰

There's a lot of misdiagnosis in Borderline Personality Disorder. Even if they hit 9/9 criteria, telling a survivor of abuse that their personality is disordered is a misdiagnosis.

I'm starting to keep a written list of significant/magical places around my local pocket of Scotland and its helping me feel so connected to the land, just having these wee reminders of all the amazing places that fulfil various needs

Zoe Venditozzi and l, the Witches of Scotland - commissioned this memorial tartan to remember those people, mostly women, killed as witches in Scotland. There is meaning to the colours and pattern :

A few years ago I did a ritual here at sunset. It didn't work out as planned but I always feel a little magical imprint got left regardless. It's true that there is no place like home 🥰 #witchsky #pagansky

Lunch spot today - I do miss Edinburgh, feel so comfortable and warm whenever I come back to visit 🥰🌊 #scotland #edinburgh

I never want to be the kind of person who wishes away the year. I think it's so important to embrace the beauty that the cold dark months bring. That said, I do miss summertime when I could just take myself away to places like this to camp and swim without having to bundle up! #scotland #witchsky

I'm so excited for my copy to arrive 📖🕯️🌿✨

From our imbolg weekend a couple weeks ago 🕯️ exploring the Fife coastline and feeling a sense of overwhelming love and gratitude #witchsky #pagansky #imbolg #scotland

anniversary celebrated with a pub lunch & rugby 💐

I wish I could understand what happens to people's priorities when they come into excessive wealth. How someone can suddenly turn every focus inward. I'm thinking about how if I won the lottery I would sink so much money into conservation works, rewilding projects, and community safeguarding

Whenever taking your witch for a walk, make sure to allocate plenty of time for them to find interesting sticks and stones, as an enrichment activity. #witchsky

A beautiful #imbolg 🌿🌊 exploring caves, making a cros Brìde, and attending a snowdrop festival! #witchsky #pagansky

The mood tonight #pagansky #witchsky

A walk along the coast, amongst the reeds and rushes, listening to oyster catchers, celebrating the turning of the wheel #pagansky #witchsky #imbolg

1st-2nd February is #Imbolc, a Gaelic festival that celebrates the impending lambing season and birth of new life. A Scottish legend tells that the arrival of snowdrops infuriates Beira the Queen of Winter, who brings frosts and snow as she battles to keep her hold. #FolkyFriday

They are out!

In Scottish Gaelic and some Scots traditions, time once flowed by the rhythm of the moon rather than the sun. Festivals like Imbolc, or Là Fhéill Brìde, were not fixed to modern calendar dates but moved with the waxing of the gealach ùr - the new moon or the more poetic name solas ur new light/lamp

Went a bit non-traditional and made haggis burgers for Burns night 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I wish I'd taken a picture

Woodlands with mossy stones, misty hills, and sheep on the moorland 🌿

A day at the wildlife Park followed by mexican tapas 😋

POV: you got for a quiet coffee in Glasgow’s southside

A lovely sunset ritual has been had 🌊 and what better place to use the Seawitch Tarot than down by the sea? #witchsky

Beautiful sunrise yesterday - the sky was on fire 🔥

One of my favourite shots I took last year was this long exposure of Bow Fiddle Rock. No filters were used as I shot it during the night. The only light being reflected off the full moon. #photography #landscapephotography #Seascape #blackandwhitephotography #Scotland
