Once again demonstrating the futility of trying to convert actual physiological effects to clinical outcomes with the pragmatic trial design.....

Almost all Nobel Prizes are awarded for work that is exploratory, or absolutely basic science with no obvious commercial or medical benefit. You cannot predict where advancements come from, so you have to invest in science and scientists. Targeted (corporate) science investment will never do this.

What should we call it when the number of meta-analyses start exceeding the number of RCTs performed? Meta-analytic incontinence? Meta-analytic diarrhea? (Since these are mostly 💩) Meta-analytic overflow Any other suggestions? @mikejohansenmd.medsky.social #EpiSky #MedSky

Great editorial by Joshi in the EJA, recounting the current litterature on perioperative glucocorticoids. It gives an overview of the line of recent research from our group, with the works of Nielsen and Springborg on high-pain responders as well as Cihoric´s on emergency laparotomy. #AnSky #SurgSky

For future use

I dare not count the number of missed diagnosis with serious implications that I have seen in my career in ICU and the OR because of lack of contrast on first exam. #AnSky

I agree - there is no almost no difference between regular and RSI - especialy when you just use prop/remi for both without NMB in most cases.

I agree - just put the tube in: "After half a century of circular arguments regarding how RSI should be performed, and the benefits and harms of each element, this meaningless term should be abandoned." associationofanaesthetists-publications.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.... #Ansky

It's the surgical inflammation, not the depth of anaesthesia......

Interesting, but how to compare with this - is there really a fixed LLA? pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29339351/

I am determined to get AnSky and MedSky resuscitated. Nothing better than our old favourite, the VL vs DL debate. Thanks to @sethina.bsky.social for the idea. Comes on guys let’s all have our say. Oh I am right though 😂

What’s up? Who’s there? Is anyone on this thing?

MORE MEDICAL SOCIETIES and publications need to do this. 𝕏 has become a cesspool and I’m surprised more physicians, scientists and academics aren’t fully on BlueSky yet. Bravo @anzca.bsky.social 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 #medsky #academicsky #sciencesky

An incredible discrepancy between the massive funding and the lack of meaningful innovation....

This is important, patients often have a lot of medication allergies listed for reasons that do not stand scrutiny, potentially harming them when they need the drugs.

This makes me proud to be Danish

Ukrainian forces are retaking more and more villages around Pokrovsk. Russian channels report of problems in manpower and Russian glide bombs being jammed.

French Senator Claude Malhuret: "Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine... We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor."

Another example where the move from American hegemony will improve things

I am afraid of the day when this applies to doctors as well.....

😆 The irony

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.
