Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.

“Democrats seem to be waiting for Trump, Musk, and MAGA to naturally become unpopular, instead of working overtime to make them unpopular. We can’t wait. We need a unified, aggressive, and creative opposition in this country.” Read more from @leahgreenberg.bsky.social and @ezralevin.bsky.social. 👇

This is why you fight these cowards. The moment you stand up to them, they crumble. Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights. He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.

If you claim to be a leader but are too scared to lead, fine -- sit down and let someone else take your place. It is easy to be bold when there is no threat. Now is a time for courage. www.cnn.com/2025/02/16/p...

They’re planning on deporting Americans now?

There is no such thing as a humane mass deportation. There will be concentration camps, separations, assaults, sexual assaults, child molestation, human trafficking & deaths that this administration, Border Patrol, ICE & CBP will attempt to hide.

This is embarrassing. Schumer needs to go NOW.

Are there protests planned? Is anything happening???

Draw your own conclusions, but Donald Trump is not behaving like a leader who expects democratic accountability for himself or his party next year or in 2028.

The present moment will require courage from everyone who opposes fascism. I’m writing this post to remind myself too. It’s going to be a long four years.

Damn straight it did. And we’re not going to stop.

Are there already 30,000 beds at Guantánamo?

One thing about me is that I will fight Nazis until I’m six feet in the ground.

The terrorization of immigrant communities is not “noise.” I’m so angry I could scream!

Clinical Prof. @nicolehallett.bsky.social appeared on @abc7chicago.bsky.social to discuss ICE raids.

“There’s a very clear principal in the constitution that the federal government cannot force states and local governments to help enforce federal law, and this has been reaffirmed by the Supreme Court over and over again,” Clinical Prof. @nicolehallett.bsky.social told @fox32chicago.bsky.social.

If only we could be sure that the Supreme Court will agree.

Can we come back from the brink? I always thought it was possible but now I’m not sure.

How on EARTH can clergy demand that anyone else take risks if they're too busy engaged in CYA How dare you If you had a nice quiet first Trump administration, how nice for you Be willing to put your shit on the line for others now, kids IT IS YOUR JOB.

This will result in kids staying home from school and people avoiding getting life-saving medical care. It's punitive and cruel and will lead to harm that will reverberate throughout immigrant communities. That, in fact, is the point.

Inevitable and essential

Imagine how rank-and-file immigration judges, who don’t have job security, are feeling after this purge at the top.

Family waiting to cross border learns their CBP One appointment is canceled www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

What to expect from Trump's Day 1 immigration agenda: 1) cancel the CHNV parole processes which have channeled 30,000 people/month into legal channels 2) ban scheduling appointments for lawful entry from Mexico using the CBPOne app

the Laken Riley Act is a destructive, anti-immigrant bill, fueled by and fueling xenophobia, along with grotesque fictions about defending white womanhood. it's also legal chaos. my piece:

The Laken Riley Act would completely upend immigration enforcement, give vast power to conservative states like Texas, and do nothing to protect women like Laken Riley. Any Democrat who supports it should be primaried.

Re: Laken Riley Act, I want to flag a bizarre scenario the law would create through its shoddy draftsmanship. Under the law, a person with TPS who originally entered illegally who is arrested for theft would be required to be indefinitely detained by ICE, *even though* they might not be removable.

Muñoz and Sherry want Democrats to move to the right on immigration, but they don’t actually explain who they would deport or how they would do it without adopting the cruel inhumane policies that Trump did.

It will be more dangerous to resist this time around. People at all levels of government are already obeying in advance. But the people who will bear the brunt of the government's cruelty need us more than ever. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

When kids start getting arrested at elementary schools, I guess people will be forced to decide whether “mass deportation” was worth registering a protest over the price of eggs.
