Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns. 100% of his salary is paid by WA state. Elon fired him. Share his story.

Let's check in on Trump's first month in office! (Gift link: wapo.st/434l8fD )

Friendly reminder that we have choices.

Musk destroyed public records when he deleted the @18F Twitter account, but staff are still at GSA, for now. Direct File service is still operational. USDS built it with Treasury. (18F was barely involved.) civic-texts.ghost.io/direct-file-... Bessent said Direct File would keep working this season.

The next agency to lose high-value datasets may be the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The Consumer Complaint Database, in particular. Why? 1) They just lost their director & 2) Mick Mulvaney tried to remove it in 2018. The database is available here. Please archive it widely.

Indivisible is urging people to visit their senators' local offices between now and Thursday to demand that they use every tool—including denying a quorum and blocking unanimous consent—to fight the confirmation of Project 2025 architect Russell Vought for head of OMB docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Alt text is its own genre and this one earns all the flowers. 😂

This seems bad. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/02/u...

OK, some lawyer, represent me. —Acct is frozen on Xitter. —As an aviator and as a writer on aviation issues, I am specifically harmed by having NTSB etc notices come only via one proprietary source. —This is like saying that flood warnings, school closings, traffic alerts only via crony media

Come for the nerdy conversation about content moderation with @karaswisher.bsky.social @dwillner.bsky.social @delbius.bsky.social Stay for my rant about stupid policymaking. 😂

Serving in government was one of the great privileges of my life, mostly because I had the honor of working with dedicated, expert, mission-driven civil servants. They are trying to hold the line for all of us right now. Support them and share these resources: www.civilservicestrong.org

For all federal employees: Before you are locked out of your systems, ensure you have copies of unclassified performance appraisals, awards & other relevant personnel docs. If you have access to your office, grab your more important personal items sooner rather than later.

Masculine energy.

Me facing 2025

Reflecting on the landscape of local journalism with @soleilho.com @nicosavidge.bsky.social, Lisa Armstrong and @lknobel.bsky.social. Thanks to these folks for continuing to commit acts of journalism. And congratulations to @berkeleyside.bsky.social on 15 years of bringing us local news.❤️

Was deep in writing and apparently missed both the earthquake and tsunami and when my advisors say pay attention when you write I don’t know what they mean anymore.😂

Actually more fun than Wordle. 😂

I just returned from Bhutan, a small kingdom with the explicit mandate to increase the Gross National Happiness of its people. Imagine if every policy discussion started with “will we increase our collective happiness by this act?” Now visualize it here. And start. youtu.be/7g_t1lzn-1A?...

Whatever you think of the incoming administration, our bureaucracy-heavy government needs fixing to better serve the American public. It requires commitment to first principles and responsible disruption, not rage burning. For some 💡, read my wise friend @pahlkadot.bsky.social (and her substack!)

A way to think about what's about to happen in federal govt that may not be comforting, but might be useful: www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...

This transition is like an amuse bouche for the non-stop distraction of the next Trump administration. They are dismantling public service in front of our eyes.

Here for all my sisters. ❤️

Damn, there are a lot of us here. Welcome!

“Complicated” is doing a lot of work here.

It’s almost like someone called for The Great Racist Bake-Off and the entire GOP is auditioning. #VoteHarrisWalz

Ready to go! Thanks to CalMatters.org and @berkeleyside.bsky.social for their excellent voter guides. #Vote2024

On a call yesterday, a Chief AI Officer said “AI is not magic.” 👈 Sing it, sister. Put it on a bumper sticker.

I honestly think we should claim the power and tell the MAGA folks that the next time they feel a breeze, they better watch their backs.

I haven’t seen this movie. Is it like Cats, where the only acceptable viewing is with a bag of edibles?

Today’s news cycle is hopelessly broken. I’m gonna turn it off and try rebooting tomorrow.

Our team wrote up a rapid analysis of 2 rumors spreading that frame errors w/ absentee ballots as intentional voter suppression. We explain how those rumors are misleading: errors like that are rarely intentional, have remedies, and are unlikely to affect outcomes. uwcip.substack.com/p/d4ae631c-a...
