Out now in Blood Advances 🙌🏽 Our work from Princess Margaret Cancer Centre evaluating the role of PTCy in matched sibling donor allogeneic transplantation! Also read this excellent commentary by my good friend @nicogagelmann.bsky.social 👇🏽 ashpublications.org/bloodadvance...

I am pleased to present 3 posters and chair a session at the EBMT annual meeting in Florence 🙌🏽 @hansbmt.bsky.social

Word!

What doesn’t evolve, goes extinct!! If you don’t adapt new data, you’ll never improve patient care. No study is perfect, and none ever will be. What matters is critical appraisal of available literature and adapting it to improve patient care 🙏🏽

Can a D-dimer be used to diagnose DVT/PE? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! What else ⤴️D-dimer? •Any infection •Any inflammation •Old age •Cancer Remember, D-dimer is a very sensitive test but NOT a very specific test 🙌🏽

Anemia in CKD 👇🏽 We all know that CKD = ⤵️EPO What's the mechanism? The interstitial cells transdifferentiate into MYOFIBROBLASTS instead of EPO producing cells ⤵️ EPO producing cells = ⤵️EPO = Anemia 👇🏽

Fever + cytopenias + organomegaly ➡️ think HLH! If you don't suspect HLH, you'll miss HLH 🙌🏽 Nice figure by Nguyen et al 👇🏽 doi.org/10.1038/s122...

📢 Happy to speak about the impact of ABO status on engraftment and survival after allogeneic transplant in the PTCy era at the Cochin Hematology Group annual meeting 🙌🏽

Ivermectin is a great drug for parasitic infections but it does NOT cure cancer. Sincerely, An oncologist

In a single-group, single-center study, clearance of driver mutations 30 days after bone marrow transplantation predicted long-term disease-free survival in patients with myelofibrosis. Read the full study results: nej.md/4fQNdKn #MedSky

I do feel like we forget that a mere 100 years ago 20% of children in America just fucking died.

Now that the USA sucks, have you considered moving to USB?

Remember, the mentor - mentee relationship is a two way street. Mentees must learn to deliver what they've promised 🙌🏽

A mentor need not be your Prof. It could be anyone! A person you meet online, a friend, a senior colleague. It's also possible to have multiple mentors 🙏🏽

I ❤️ road trips!

Walking in to 2025 with my ❤️

I think vaccines had something to do with this 🤷🏼

One cannot manage a patient with febrile neutropenia without having a sound knowledge of medicine! You need to know medicine before you step into a hematology unit! Period. #MedSky / #SkyMed

Thou shalt not allow polio to come back you stupid fucks.

I’ve cared for infants who stopped breathing w/ pertussis. School aged kids who died of flu or COVID. And many of my patients can’t be vaccinated because they’re on chemotherapy or are immune compromised. Vaccinations save lives of those who get them & those who cannot. It’s that simple.

Skepticism is healthy. Over-skepticism stifles progress. It's important to know where to draw the line! It's also important to not comment on trials outside of one's area of specialization. It's impossible to understand the nuance of a disease you don't treat!

It was an honour to receive the #ASH24 abstract achievement award for 3 of my abstracts 🙌🏼 The alloBMT team at Princess Margaret Hospital had 2 oral presentations + 9 posters to present 💪🏼 I'm proud to work at one of the largest transplant centers in the 🌎 with the kindest colleagues ❤️

It was an honour to present our study at #ASH24 ❤️ ABO status continues to impact transplant outcomes even in the PTCy era! If you have more than 1 available donor, please consider the ABO status especially when using RIC conditioning! Thanks to @haemophage.bsky.social for the mentorship 🙌🏼

This year at #ASH24 the team at @hansbmt.bsky.social are presenting 2 Oral Abstracts and 9 Posters! While many of us are not attending in person this year please connect with @nihardesai7.bsky.social who is on site and will talk your ear off about the cool stuff we do here!

Nice work. PTCY for the win once again.

The slide set is almost ready!! I am excited to present our data at #ASH24 💪🏼 Thank you @ash-hematology.bsky.social for the opportunity and @haemophage.bsky.social for the phenomenal mentorship 🙌🏼 See you all soon 😍 #MedSky

There is no greater privilege than caring for patients battling leukemia. I am so grateful to live the dream I had as an 18 yr old 🙏🏼

After a tough day on call, I’m reminded to be grateful for good health. It’s a gift many only dream of 🙏🏼

Wassup BlueSky? The Mallard duck says hello 👋🏼 @ameetrkini.bsky.social share your images 🙌🏼 Let's make BlueSky beautiful ❤️

All I want is beer and pizza this lovely evening 🍕🍺

Seven shades of melaena! It is often frustrating when we get dubious GI referrals for suspected melaena/melena. So I made this chart for reference, feel free to share! #medsky #gastrosky #gisky

I'm reading that Mark Zuckerberg is genuinely spooked by the rapid growth of Bluesky. Sounds pretty good.
