Adding #ActuallyAutistic so the post hits the autistic feed since ultimately it's about neurodivergent self diagnosis...

Self diagnosis is often the first step to professional diagnosis. People may think they broke a bone because the symptoms match that diagnosis. They go to the Dr to make sure. Same with ADHD, autism, chronic illness, disability and most other conditions. SELF DIAGNOSIS PRECEDES DIAGNOSIS

Disability and spoonie friends... My new house has taps that are destroying my hypermobile and painful fingers. I found some tap turner accessibility thing but was wondering if anyone has used them before. I'm worried the taps need something stronger than plastic since they are really stiff.

Turns out I'm having a rare-ish reaction to Botox. Diarrhea and flu-like symptoms... Been absolutely exhausted and on the loo quite a bit today. #MigraineChat

I had Botox today to help with migraines. 31 injections and feeling pretty sore at the back of my head/neck. Anyone had experience with this and want to share? #MigraineChat #disability

It's only after listening to @socialistdogmom.bsky.social podcast do I actually understand the reason they named the character in The Boys 'StormFront'. Was it meant to be super obvious and I was uninformed or was it a bit more nuanced than that?

We have the chance to make an actual secret room/lair in our new house. Suggestions for implementation please Looks like I can't upload a video yet. But it's very cool.

First therapy session since moving. Therapy is now 26 miles away so we have to drive there. It's really messed up our routine

We made up a lovely little room for Gizmo to enjoy as he gets used to the new house. Nah. Under our bed is fine

This new effort to end Section 504 for equal access for disabled people to gov funded spaces is vile, but nondisabled people need to understand this is not the 1st step in trying to kill us: Ever since you were told “only the vulnerable” need to worry about Covid, so you stopped— you paved the way.

The real MeToo “cancel culture” was what happened to the women and other victims who came forward. They were retraumatized, harassed, humiliated, sued, fired, and blacklisted. Then they were the subject of a revisionist history that MeToo went “too far” and deserved a reactionary backlash

Moving day. Goodbye laurel that refused to grow Goodbye grass we hate to mow Goodbye room too cold to use Goodbye stairbox that loves to bruise (my legs) Goodbye kitchen with no drawers

Something is annoyingly wrong with my feed because I'm not seeing any news on the UK assisted dying bill becoming less stringent before it passes. ... ... ... How do I find /that/ discourse?

“There are plenty of remote jobs disabled people could be doing” On the dwp Find a Job site (which replaced the jobcentre site) there’s 122k jobs. fully remote 877 + in NE England - 30 in my city - 6 + disability confident ZERO The most interesting part? They're all pip assessor jobs.

Been trying to pace last week since we are moving house this week. But also not doing amazing at that. Boo

People with a mental illness diagnosis or any disabled person end up punished for being in work p/t or f/t when needing support ie adjustments, supports and heaven forbid UC to help with rent or PIP. Employment is used against disabled claimants and by MH services

Disabled people working p/t enabled by PIP, have had assessors say they can't have the problems they state - because they work p/t

To all my trans friends in the US. I'm sorry your president doesn't understand that sports, especially non-elite sports are not about winning or fairness. They are about fun and exercise and movement. No single body is the same, competing in sports is always unfair, it doesn't mean we ban people.

autistic meltdowns are not tantrums that doesn't mean that autistic people can't throw tantrums

People don’t develop eating disorders on purpose. We have predispositions, trauma, difficultly coping with emotions, certain personality types. No eating disorder is a choice.

Of course people getting weight loss injections from random websites is going to cause massive health problems. Of course our society that pursues and values thinness at the cost of health is going to lead to this kind of thing. If you make me believe my worth is my size, the outcomes are on you.

The reason that trump seems to not want to impose tariffs on the UK is not something for us to celebrate. It's cause to reflect on what we have done so wrong in our society that we are seen as an ally.

A disabled person can burn out without being in paid employment. Just managing our health conditions can (often does) become totally overwhelming, takes nearly all our time, and burns us out. Issue is we can’t have time off to recover.
