I think a good rule of thumb is to not elect a president who has an autograph, rather than a signature

Politics always swings left and right over time, but scarier than the right at the minute is that the left are heading for the middle to try to win voters back. This means both sides will just slide further right permanently. It's self-defeating.

I don't have that "savant" autism that's especially good at anything I have the "embarrassing" autism that makes me annoying and like a permanent 12 year old and even I get tired of it.

Weirdly I could do it if someone was tattooing me - could that be arranged?

Duo is spying on me.

Someone at Southwark council is a bit of a pessimist.

Have honestly never seen a merch line as long as the one tonight for @slipperyjack.bsky.social’s Green Lung designs. I now have two tour shirts because I was completely unable to decide 😁 incredible gig, impossibly perfect encore. 😍

Hey, look, here’s @chriswarcraft.bsky.social out there walking the walk www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/f...

Turned our doormat around. Makes more sense that way.

New blue! Neon blue from Directions. Reserving judgement until we’re a couple of washes in, natch. The bathroom already disapproves.

7/52 delightful queer fairy tales, beautifully illustrated, that carry with them the hope that I can belong somewhere too. Lots of feelings.

You know, struggling with executive function while being generally kind of clever and well-spoken has given me a life where many people tell me "you're the smartest person I know" while I feel like an absolute idiot because I can't make myself get up and do the dishes.

Capitalism: - and because you’re poor, you’ll be buying your landlord a house. Me: I’ll be - you’re aware that I’m… *poorer* than them, right? Capitalism: Precisely! Me: and what do I get out of this? Capitalism: the warm glow of Contributing. ☺️

Attn: all gig venues. We’ll discuss your ‘we’d rather you didn’t bring a bag ☺️’ policy when you provide free sanitary items in all bathrooms, hmm?

At the point in the B12 cycle where I am being Very Brave and working to stay up past 7pm

Well frankly I don’t know what people are complaining about - clearly the whole genAI thing is going great, and I for one welcome our robot overlords.

tfw you're writing a blog post with a title that references a Raymond Carver quote, except your *actual* cultural touchstone for it is in fact Due South fanfiction from the '90s...

GOOD MORNING!

Another plug for Omar El Akkad’s one day, everyone will have been against this

"Anti-migrant politics will not build a single house, staff a single hospital or raise anyone’s wages. Instead, by echoing its rhetoric, the government is simply fuelling the rise of Reform UK" Well done to these Labour MPs, trade unionists, and members. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Hey it's me, Sonic the Hedgehog! Did you know that if you saved $100,000 a day every day from the birth of Jesus to today, you still wouldn't have 1/5th of Elon Musk's net worth? Does Elon Musk perform labor that is worth way over $100,000/day for 2000+ years? Or is something seriously wrong here?

6/52 this took way longer than it ought - bad brain days - and my reaction is mixed. I think I enjoyed it - it is a fantastic story - but the epilogue was the part that swung into ‘enjoy’ which is… late. The magical autistic trope made me hugely uncomfortable throughout, your mileage may vary.

I think it is sometimes hard not to feel hopeless so doing something together which will help feed children living in poverty gives me a little hope that together we can do small things, great things, things that matter, and things that make changes.

I have been enthralled all day with #GothsForBreakfast and haven't managed to skeet (fail) but the talk about long-form horror with @daviddemchuk.com is so wise and well structured, it feels like he's telling me secrets of writing that people have been keeping to themselves. I am verklempt.

My whole day today is #GothsForBreakfast which means I will also get many chores done while listening to fascinating people 😁💜 perfect weekend

What is required for membership? Very sincerely asking, what has Elon Musk done besides providing funding? My impression of him is that he thinks he’s exceptionally clever and… buys credit for things. If I’m missing out on evidence of genius I’d be very interested to see it!

Accidentally stealing 73 books

'In the letter, made public on 10 February, Julia Black...says the “range of cutbacks we are seeing across universities is leading to a severe loss in UK capability".' Nearly 100 HEIs are “contracting or closing” social sciences, humanities & the arts disciplines “in the face of a financial crisis”.

Amazing round table at work about decolonisation and queer identities and I have had A Lot Of Thoughts Out Loud 😁💜 so great to have so many interesting conversations in a way that makes me feel seen and a helpful contributor

My latest cartoon for @newscientist.com

Hibernation would heal me

Just watched Save the Green Planet. By turns utterly batshit and traumatic, a genuinely unique and bizarre film. Truly enjoyed watching! Blimey.

If I were immortal there would be no Great Purpose it would literally just be media consumption because what if I miss something???

Apparently I still know all of the words to Limp Bizkit’s Break Stuff 🤣🤣🤣

Elon Musk and the DOGE engineers are the best argument for the Humanities

I just watched Pig and enjoyed it rather. Prettier and weirder than I expected, but the emotional beats were clumsily done. Nic Cage is peak mumblecore these days, though.

I think the answer is, professors are specialists in their disciplines, not in pedagogy (unless they're teaching education!). Pedagogical specialists - educational developers - supporting the evolution of the student experience should never be a threat "at" academics: it's not about "good".
