if you know a lot of stuff i think it is your moral duty to be kind and excited when people learn stuff for the first time. the world is full of stuff we don't know about, don't be mean

Frugal is where we stock our children's books at Countway from 🙌

I need to go here

I needed to write about something that’s giving me hope, so I wrote about Independent Bookstore Day which is this Saturday. lithub.com/something-go...

There aren't words anymore

"Shouldn't parents decide what is taught in school?" No.

Don’t wanna be a downer but this might be the last FREE COMIC BOOK DAY? Let’s make it count next weekend. Please support your local comic shop. They need us more than ever.

Hit posts here have become just as irritating as they were on Twitter. Christ.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times using gifs ("Hard mode" no Star Wars, Star Trek or LOTR)

I know everyone is all “ChatGPT kills rainforests” and maybe it does, but you know what it does for certain? Hurts my children’s lungs. See, it’s cheaper to make electricity when 1) you don’t have to haul coal very far, and 2) state capture means environmental regs are tissue paper thin

"At present, no miracle has happened. The WIU Librarians will be gone in under a month, as our layoffs take effect May 14." Western Illinois University will attempt to be a university without a library. It doesn't take a red state to destroy a public good. savewiulibrarians.org/message.php

So what happens when someone shoots ICE for entering without knocking, without identifying themselves?

The drama continues

No one with a real grasp of LGBTQ+ history should be trying to exclude Trans and Bisexual people.

Worcester is a city of neglected spaces It's really quite frustrating

This is a nightmare

It was never just about schools, it was never just about libraries, and it isn't actually about the books. It's about finding a way to banish entire people, entire ideas, out of society, back into the closet or worse. www.chron.com/politics/art...

Some good news for this Friday. This astonishing group of people have spun up ERICA, the ERIC archive. www.datarescueproject.org/erica-to-the... #GLAMS #Skybrarians #AcademicSky

If New York elects Cuomo you are just not a serious city. Don't bother us with your little in-the-know New Yorkisms anymore. They are no longer cute. Learn to say "in line" like every other normal dipshit in this country who can't stop electing right wing Democrats.

We live in the bad place

And, just like that, the top journal in the field of Environmental Health, published by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, a part of the NIH, goes dark...

From my State Librarian: "[we] received a notice [yesterday] from IMLS for a partial 2025 Grants to States award" My dept thinks they will get the full amount allotted to them for 2025. Did all the states got these notices, or just the 20 which sued? Graphic @marc-fischer.bsky.social #SaveIMLS

We're getting this book! Coming from @sevenstories.bsky.social in September. #libcomix www.sevenstories.com/books/4749-e...

This got me thinking, what are some good nonfiction or graphic nonfiction titles that are similar to this - about bodies & related issues - but aimed at middle school or lower YA rather than adult caretakers? Looking for titles from the last 5 or so years that are gender-inclusive & nonjudgemental.

Anyone have an artwork folio they like? Something that can fit up to 24 x 36 size pieces (we'd like to put smaller in too, but if we have to buy a small one two, we will).

So @gabbsnoe.bsky.social is working on trivia for a WSU event and just gave me a number for tuition for out of state students pre-1930 that amounted to about 1% of the average person's income a year. I would like to petition that we cap tuition at that amount across the country.

Remember that while yes, we do in fact want Harvard to win these lawsuits and that yes, Trump is FAR overstepping... This is still the university who has a policy that prohibits protest (including silent protest) almost everywhere on campus.

As I used to have to do over on Twitter, I guess I need to do it here now too: A certain "safe libraries" person keeps tabs on what I post. I have no idea under which account, I've blocked the ones I know of, or if it is just because my posts are public. 1/2
