Vote shaming isn’t a thing that exists. This country has a 2-party system, not a parliamentary one. You voted for the major party & candidate that was against all of this or you voted explicitly for it either by directly choosing it or throwing the vote to someone who was never close to realistic.

America was given a choice between a lawless, amoral monster and a qualified, intelligent, joyful woman of color—and it chose the monster. We need to reckon with the reality of what that says about so many of us here. johnpavlovitz.substack.com/p/america-ch...

Chris Murphy: "We can't be preparing for the 2026 election. It might not come. All of our focus right now has to be on protecting the democracy, about stopping the corruption."

I wouldnt be too quick to buy this. Musk got what he came for all along—our personal information. The world’s richest guy doesn’t walk away from a $250 mil investment empty handed. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/u...

"You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I’ll rise…" —Scott Pelley quoting Maya Angelou’s poem www.americaamerica.news/p/snapshot-s...

Scott Pelley: “If our government is, in Lincoln’s phrase, ‘of the people, by the people, for the people,’ then why are we afraid to speak?” @samsteindc.bsky.social and @lauren-egan.bsky.social‬ react to Scott Pelley's powerful speech.

BREAKING: Scott Pelley just risked everything to make one thing clear: The attack on free speech isn’t coming—it’s already here. Journalists are being silenced, critics are being punished, and most of the media’s playing dead. This is state-sponsored suppression. This is dictatorship in real time.

Scott Pelley—American author and reporter for CBS News for more than 31 years, did not hold back

The fake Boston Globe front page of what a Trump presidency would look like from 2016 seems awfully fuckin' quaint now. All of it is happening, the only real difference is, in this fantasyland, the military refuses to do some of it.

Certainly worth repeating in the times we are in..

From Nov 7:

Not since the days of Herbert Hoover…

It cost two world wars and a great depression to teach 20th century Republicans why isolationism and protectionism were wrong. Let's hope that the education of 21st century Republicans will cost less - but it's already expensive enough.

Pls don’t repost this or Trump will expode his depends!!

Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.

They are just disappearing people off the street. Having a hard time thinking about literally anything else.

In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

The collapse of U.S. credibility and influence in the last 2 months has made it far more likely that our planet's future will be Chinese-dominated. In last year's election, 77 million Americans committed national suicide.

Well done, 60 Minutes. F MAGA to the ends of the Earth. www.cbsnews.com/news/concert...

"60 Minutes" for the win again: "The original Marine Band concert would have been seen by hundreds. Here, tonight, these musicians are being heard by millions." www.cbsnews.com/news/concert...

This was one of the most depressing things I've seen in a while. We are in deep trouble as a country. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js15...

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025. This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

Being a historian, people ask me if I think the US is living through Germany 1933. I answer no, analogies are always imperfect but to me it feels more like Russia 1999: a blatant theft of state assets and liberals in a fugue state, refusing to believe the arc of progress is bending against them.

Always mock dictators: youtube.com/shorts/M4tg9...
