The last WI Supreme Court election saw the end of gerrymandering and hope for reproductive rights. All that could be reversed. This will be the first big race since the Presidential election. A progressive win will show the broligarchy is not inevitable.

New, from me @theatlantic.com: *No, the federal government is not too big *It has real human capital needs *Firings are indiscriminate, weakening state capacity *Creating a toxic and politicized workplace is driving away dedicated employees www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

We have raised over $511,000 in under 4 freaking fracking days. We are still live until we hit $1 million for Children of Fallen Patriots. Let's do this

From a movie review, but I feel this so hard.

*Trump is torching US diplomacy and soft power *Abandoning alliances *Repeating Russian talking points *Calling for massive military cuts *Planning a purge of the US military Taking a wrecking ball to American national security and global stability.

On a day where I’ve asked several people how we will ever resurrect federal recruitment, I learn that the president wants to end the Presidential Management Fellows program. www.axios.com/2025/02/19/t...

"The sheep like the shade, plus the solar panels increase grass yield and protect sheep from predators," said Pearce. Meanwhile, Pearce revealed farmers and shepherds reap their own set of benefits, as "sheep eliminate the need for herbicides or costly grass cutting on the solar farms."

Just thinking... If you're worried about losing access to online media like books, music, movies... So you're decided to collect physical copies. Maybe you should also get some books on gardening, food preservation, cooking, repairs, 1st aid? Basically get the info you'd look up on YouTube.

Opinion polling is important in that it can tell us what people think and what they care about, which are valuable things in a democracy. But it's much less good at telling us what people can learn and can be made to care about. That takes opinion *leadership*

People would actually care about gutting FEMA if they understood it meant the possibility of things like not receiving tornado warnings, no search and rescue teams coming to save them in an earthquake, no flood insurance, no extra medical help, no money to rebuild.

One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.

Yeah, this is about the single best summary of where we are now, using a broader democratic framing.

I appreciate that he just distilled all conspiracies into one single sentiment

This is pretty incredible by the Climate Program Portal - they archived tons of datasets, reports, and webpages associated with the IRA and IIJA pre-inauguration: climateprogramportal.org/federal-arch...

As the forces of hatred are on the march, my promise is this: Our trans neighbors will continue to be safe, protected, and welcome in Minnesota.

Weak men cannot compromise. Weak men cannot build consensus. Weak men think that leadership means force. Weak men build nothing that lasts.

I'll probably say this 5 million times in coming years, but: A political strategy that relies on the public "waking up" and realizing that Trump & Co. are awful -- on their own -- is destined to fail. No matter how bad it gets. None of this is self-executing. People must be told & shown.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent. Opportunities are everywhere. Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Let's build enough homes to be the next Queer Capitol of America.

It’s best when it comes to this Schmitt stuff to get past the shock response (“they’re endorsing a Nazi legal theorist!!”) and cut straight through the constitutional bullshit: there is no such thing as an executive sovereign; this is an argument for replacing constitutionalism with totalitarianism

not to dismiss the whole thing, but if I wanted to grow my own food I'd have become a farmer, the literal point of civilisation was that everyone didnt have to grow their own food

A very good way for a Dem to stand out at the moment in a way that appeals to their base is to forcefully oppose what Trump is doing. Y'know, basic opposition party stuff.

I made this call (to both Senator Amy Klobuchar and Senator Tina Smith). They've both campaigned on LGBTQ+ rights in the past but I want to make it really really clear that I want them to vote against this, block this, stand up against this, and rally other Democrats to oppose this.

I wrote about how not to give up, how to take back your voice in your own future, so that when a year actually has passed, you look back with the satisfaction. This is how to survive Trump 2.0

The first rule of frame warfare: do not use your opponent's frames.

It would be so helpful if the Left had any kind of coherent emergency management platform right about now. 🙃

Welp, there you have it. The "sin of empathy."

A whole bunch of you need to read this. billmoyers.com/story/increa...

One thing about me is that I will fight Nazis until I’m six feet in the ground.

What if fascism is just bad and your moral obligation to fight it is not in any way diminished or altered by what The Left did or didn't do?

The assault on NIH is a test for how the national media covers the Trump admin: Trump is shutting down medical research! That is easy to communicate. Will they treat it as a 5 alarm fire in a way that forces the government to respond, or will they downplay & caveat it?

IT IS ME, LEAP!!! I interrupt my Iditarod training to bring you VERY IMPORTANT NEWS!!!

There is a widespread sickness in American punditry where commentators cannot describe basic political realities because it sounds partisan, so they mischaracterize the positions of Democrats and Republicans to avoid appearing like they are taking a stand.
